that I've been taking photos of lately as the following shows-this is a typical AZ Summer Sunset.

Nice clear sky. Is it like that a lot in your summer?
We get so dang much humidity this time of year. Our dewpoint is 67 as I type. Yuck!

If You're Talking

about the overall lack of gunk in the air (such as one might see around Phoenix), we see that clarity most of the time all year. Average visibility in the Summer is well over 30 miles-makes storm chasing easy since one doesn't have to get too close to the storms to see the structure-unless it's on the other side. In recent days, we've been getting smoke drift from the fire so the visibility is crappy right now.

Nice sunset shot, Steve. Arizona has by far the most beautiful sunsets of any place I have been. The combination of higher clouds and less humidity to skew the colors makes colors like Steve captured to be possible many evenings.

Actually, though, the clouds you see in this particular photo haven't been seen in Phoenix for a long time. We have been having cloudless skies for days and days.

If you like sunshine and vibrant sunsets, this is the place to be.

Thank you Aslkahuna! So beautiful!

I'll be in Az on the 14th and can't wait to see those spectacular skies! My sister lives on the top of a mountain in Dewey.....near Prescott.....her home rests on almost 40 acres. The sky is so beautiful no matter what time of day........but the nights are spectacular! Watching storms come in with lightening darting in peculiar patterns.....looking across the mountains and seeing shafts of rain falling.....finding huge rainbows in more than one direction......there's NO PLACE else like it!............p
