It's pretty exciting when your President comes to town, just to throw out the first pitch of the Reds opening day game (which is an unoffical holiday here in the Queen City).

I heard secret service were here for several days, securing the area and tall buildings that you could see the infield from upper floors. Also, 3 secret servicemen were at the outfield area where fans can stand and watch, armed with 2 weapons each (handgun, rifle). This is not in the article but we heard it on the radio. They were taking no chances!

I'm sure he's long gone now and back in DC. Just thought I'd share our city's exciting news today.

And oh, the Reds lost.....dang. But to the Cubs (our second favorite baseball team, so that wasn't so bad).

Mary, :)

I heard this evening on the world news that the only president since...I believe the tradition of presidential first pitches in...1910 (if I recall correctly)...that the only one who hasn't pitched a ball at a game was Jimmy Carter.

GO REDS!! :D

And ya know this topic is wx related. Temps steadily fell all day, clouds rolled in and the winds whipped up, blowing in from the Ohio River. Heard it was really cold down there today! At one point I heard there was a wind chill of 41, actual temp 47. Ticket holders had to arrive very early, b/c of aded security measures for Bush's safety. I'm guessing not everyone dressed for cold weather. When it started out so warm too. I heard talk show hosts wonder why baseball has to start so early. I remember it snowed on Opening Day one year (1985).
