Regret

#1 Postby Janice » Fri Apr 14, 2006 11:50 am

What is your number one worst regret in your life? Maybe you would like to redo it or maybe you feel you should just forget it and move on.

Hey, I am getting personal here, but people might want to vent.

Janice, just a friendly note: it's worsT, not worse. One thing can be worsE than another, but only one thing can be the worsT. :)

And ah, regrets: I regret dating my last ex-dummy.

i should NEVER have married my first husband. UGH!

I should have listened to my mother on that one: "You dont have to buy every pair of shoes you try on..."

I have so many. Like Alicia I want to say I shouldn't have married my ex. I regret ever having had one date with him.

But no, when I think about it, my #1 regret in life is eating peanut butter every single day I was pregnant with Nina and then every single day I tried in vain to nurse her for 6 weeks. She has a life threatening peanut allergy as a result (from what I read on medical websites, there's a definite theory you can give your baby this allergy if you eat too much of it). She won't outgrow this allergy. I also ate a hard boiled egg a day too but she can have dairy. Whew there.

My preggo books said PB and eggs were excellent sources of protein. So every day I'd have this snack - PB on whole wheat bread, a glass of milk and the egg. Every single day. I really thought I was eating healthy. Too much of a good thing I guess....

Sigh.....(I have a few other regrets but this is my biggie).

Mary

PS - if you know someone pregnant, tell them to avoid PB!

:lol:

I shouldn't have married my first husband either. However, all of my "regrets" I truly believe occurred for a reason and made me the BETTER person I am now. There were some that were definately stupid and I do wish that had I a chance to go back to rectify them.

Not to be picky, Mary, but eggs arent dairy...dairy is milk and milk products. (unless you know of a cow who lays eggs....) :D

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I’ll say it clear,
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain.

I’ve lived a life that’s full.
I’ve traveled each and ev’ry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried.
I’ve had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it my way.

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

Huh? I've heard dieticians include eggs among other dairy items - milk, cheese, etc.

Honest, I have! LOL

Okay back to the topic at hand (yes I do know cows do not lay eggs but I swear I didn't dream that up!!!)

I regret becoming a mortgage broker 3 1/2 years ago instead of going back to college for meteorology. I am starting back in school in the fall but, I feel like it has been lost, frustrating and aggrivation have been the only things I have gained. Don't get me wrong the money is great but, the stress is overwhelming.

Thanks Janice. Didn't think I was cracking up here....seems they are grouped with milk type products, b/c milkmen delivered them or they are produced with dairy products, on a farm. Here are a few links I dug up:

http://www.saltspringdairy.com/products.html
http://www.hoovers.com/dairy-products/- ... heet.xhtml
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Cookbook:Dairy

Nathan - good luck with the new career change. I wish you the best in this new endeavor! I went to college at age 30, after having worked in a doctor's office for 10 years (a few other odd jobs thrown in there too). I loved the academic world and you're never too old to get a new degree (although I never got one, yet that is!).

Its hard to have a regret about anything, because if I didn't do everything exactley the same then I wouldn't be where I am today, and I may not have the 3 wonderful kids I have now. Yes I would have liked to do some things differently mainly not putting all the bad things I put into my body before the kids were born. But everything happens for a reason I believe and that is what got me here, and I am happy with here. :D

Hey, look at me.........I "retired" at the age of 40 from the grocery business, I spent 20 years as a meat cutter/mgr, stashed a lot of money, made some GOOD investments, payed my dues to the union and NOW........I'm following my DREAM of working in law enforcement 8-) I will graduate this Sept with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, I am currently working as a criminal investigator and I'll be "47" this year :eek: :roll: 8-)

I regret excluding myself from the world from ages 10 to 15. I sat in my house everyday, I lost my friends, and I lost 5 years of childhood, that I will never get back. I am 17 now, and I finally restarted my life, but I still lost 5 years.

No regrets - for I would not be who I am today were it not for both the good and bad experiences. It may have been easier to be more traditional, but I would have missed one heck of a ride.

Words to live by:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - WINE in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride"
