Once again, driving habits

Here we go again, have your driving habits changed since gas has gone up?

Me......YES! I'm no longer going to Flagstaff every 2 weeks, now it's down to once a MONTH.........we're stocking up for a month. I no longer "jet out" of a green light, I'm driving like our old fart summer residents, just barely giving it enough gas to move I'm combining trips once again.

I have no choice but to drive about 80 miles round trip for work. I have slowed down. Trying to slow down on the turnpike and interstate.

I still do ~3000 miles per month. However, I did just buy a more fuel-efficient vehicle.

I do enjoy laughing at the morons driving Hummers.

I, too, have no choice, I drive 90 miles round trip for work so now paying tolls on the turnpikes that I use as it's about 10 miles shorter than the "free" ways from PA-NJ and using my cruise control more often and trying to get gas in NJ as it's 25 cents cheaper than gas in Philly

HOLY CRAP that's a LOT of miles!! LOL@ the Hummers!! I am seeing a TON of people putting thier gas guzzlin' SUVS on the market, almost every street corner has 1-2 Ford Excurrisons, Expeditions, Chevy Suburbans for sale "CHEAP!"

I do 30 miles each way when I go to the office. When I'm out visiting customers, I do a lot more than that. I also drive a lot on the weekends. This is why I bought a more efficient vehicle!

Dennis...my round trip to work is 36 miles a day. That car stays put other than that. My wife drives 8 miles round trip to work. That car is over a year old and has 7,000 miles on it. Other than an occasional trip up north or to San Diego, our only driving is for nearby shopping or visits with friends.

We weighed the option of buying a hybrid, but with the additional cost of the technology, the math didn't work. We could pay $5 a gallon for gas and still come out ahead with the vehicles we have.

Fortunately, no kids in the family any more to drive here and there and no lead-footed teens to use the cars either.

I've come to appreciate that we live in the center of the shopping universe here, and as a result we honestly never have to go further than ten minutes for anything we could ever need or want or wish for.

There's always a choice.

You can always choose to live closer to where you work or vice versa.

I do about 100 miles a day. I drive slower and use the cruise control more. I know average a paltry 17mpg as opposed to 15 a few weeks ago. Every little bit helps.

In my new RAV4 I get ~27 MPG. That's a big improvement over my old Lincoln LS which got about 18. The best part is that the RAV4 with the new 3.5L V6 is faster and even better to drive then my old V8 LS.

I know a BUNCH of you are NASCAR fans here..........so PLEASE be nice But to ME......that's a HUGE waste of gas, we are the ONLY country where auto racing is a huge sport, just curious, wonder how much gas is consumed during a NASCAR race?

I think you forgot about F1 which is 100X as popular as NASCAR.

Nah.....F1 is like a lot of other sports here in the US. Sports that are big in the US are rarely, if ever big anywhere else. NASCAR, Indy Cars, Football, NBA, NHL etc are nowhere near as popular. F1 is more worldwide.
