"Kidney stones!"

OK....for you men out there, how many have had kidney stones?

MAN....let me tell ya, I spent 4 hours in the local E.R. last night with kidney stones, talk about HURT I spent the better part of the day in bed trying to recouperate.

I've never had 'em, but from what I hear, it's got to be one of the worst experiences a body can go thru. Sheez Dennis. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

I have had over 100...No joke ...I have had 4 laser surgery's on them....I remeber my first one...If I had owned a gun I would not be typing this...Thank goodness for morphin is all I have to say..

No.......I haven't passed 'em yet, they found 3 that are on the move and YES, thank GOD for pain meds!

I have not. That's not to say I never will of course, I'm only 20 (but soon to be 21).

Far from it, from what I've been told by FEMALES who have had stones. Seriously, I hope it's over soon for you, Dennis.

Don't answer here (because it's kind of personal), but did they insert anything (catheter?) while you were in the ER? It's not a tried-and-true method of easing the discomfort of passing the stone, but one of the ER attendings taught us that some patients report that the lube used to insert the cath seemed to aid in speeding the passing of the stone. Of course, it's rare that anyone gets a cath, especially if they are that close to passing one or more.

Yuck! Kidney stones can be nasty. Hope you get better, Dennis!

I have sort of a lesser feeling of how passing a kidney might be, since I had my appendix taken out. It didn't hurt like it did in the past, but there was still discomfort afterwards. A kidney stone is definately worse.

Sorry to hear that Dennis. I have personally never had one, but like others said here I have heard it is one of the worst pains there can be. A few of my family members have had them, all them women. Hope you can get rid of them quickly and feel better soon.

I'm not a man but I will answer you anyway. I do know that it is more difficult for a man.
I will be praying for you. My father, sister and I have all had kidney stones. They tried using the basket method on my sister but she had to have surgery. I started praying and confessed to sins that I hadn't done, but luckily I passed mine and didn't have to have surgery. A friend of mine's father came out of the bathroom with the entire sink in his hands which he had pulled from the wall. A Doctor once told me that he was on vacation in a rural area of Spain in a jeep when the attack came, he said liquor was the only thing that helped him survive the journey to the hospital. Drink as much as you can and then drink a little more. I pray they gave you some good pain meds. Its not something you ever forget. I have an emergency stash of pain meds locked in a safe if it ever happens to me again.

Feeling MUCHO better today after passing what seemed to be a 1/2 lb. stone......thanks for the prayers and thoughts!

NOW....get THIS, our BEST friends in the world and K9 SAR buddies, are both pharmacists and they BOTH said (they are also FIRM believers in Holistic Medicine BIG TIME) to drink a 2 LITER of COKE in less than a 1/2 hour and the acid will desolve the stones........I thought YEAH RIGHT, they sent a website, I'll post in a second that recommends the SAME treatment!

Got to work early a few weeks ago and found my boss laying face first on the office floor. I naturally freaked out and asked him what was wrong. He told me "My ovaries hurt" ROFL!! I said, "No honey, men do not have ovaries you have to be experiencing a kidney stone" LOL!! Called a driver in and he took him to the doctor. Yep, I was right it was a kidney stone.

When he got back I told him now you know what women go through in labor.

That's EXACTLY what the sawbones at the ER said, "Now you know what ovarian pain feels like"........I thought to myself, "Now I KNOW I'm GLAD to be a MAN!"
