Your Car

The time will come when you will have to get a new or another car. What kind will you get.

Our car is really old, compact. Within a year, we will have to get another one. We will not get a new one, but one under a year old. You lose thousands just driving a new one off the lot. We don't need a big one on the island with no kids, etc. We will get a good used one for around $10,000. They are getting smaller and cheaper. It is not like we drive from state to state... :eek:

Will you downsize next time to save on gas?

I still have my '97 Honda Civic from when I graduated college, but she's in rough shape after all these S. FL summers. Eventually, hubby and I will get me a mini-van or SUV since I'll be the one to haul the kids and all their stuff around, but that won't be a necessity until we have the house and the kids :wink:

I always buy new and drive them until they don't work any more.

I inow that buying used can have a better value, but often you're just buying someone else's problem.

That said, I just bought a new RAV4, and won't be buying again for quite a while.

Very easy...I won't buy a car.

Reason #1: Almost no parking space. And the parking spaces that are free will cost you $2000 a year or you can buy an underground parking space for about $50.000. Either way, you still have to walk a while to get to your car

Reason #2: There ins't a place on earth where gasoline is more expensive then here

Reason #3: It's very easy to travel by public transport here and within the city itself, a bike is way more pratical then a car, since almost all the streets in the city centre are car-free

Reason #4: I'm only 17, so I'm not allowed to drive yet :ggreen:

I've got an '01 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. It's now going on 6 years old and though i've had some minor trouble with it i think i'll keep it for as long as i can. I haven't seen any cars out there that i would absolutely want to drive. My husband just got a new vehicle for work, a Honda CRV. It's pretty nice!

Yes, mama. A small car like that would be just great for us. Just as long as John can get his golf clubs in the back. :D

Also, one that will hold 4 or 6 people for when company comes.

My car??? Not! I drive an F150, need it for farm chores. One of my accounting clients is an auto repair shop. They recommend Toyota Camry's or Nissan Altimas, or any of the smaller Nissan trucks...which your husband's golf clubs would fit fine in!!!

Do you really have a pregnant lizard???

I will probably have to replace mine soon. It's a 1995 Honda Odyssey and is just so slow . Highway driving is a chore. Doesnt really have any problems, though.

Well, ours is a Geo Storm 1991. John has kept it in mint condition, but it is starting to get cancer. He had a Cadillac before that, bought it new in 1986. We hold on to our cars a long time. I would love to still have a little volkswagon convertible just for me tho if I could get one cheap.

Brian drives a Buick Regal...finally got rid of the Jag, and went for a grandma car...lol, but he loves it...not as much as he loved his caddy tho...I drive a Honda Element 2005 4wd...like it alot....but in January I am buying the saturn Sky roadster...when the turbo comes out...My son will be driving by then, and we'll have 3 cars available...he'll prob. get stuck with Brian's Buick...haha

You will be paying a fortune in car insurance. Yikes..... and, I think it is higher out there. We just pay liability on our Storm, but when we get the new car, the party is over. It has been nice not having a car payment for 12 years or so.

I had a 1999 Mazda Protege and my girlfriend got into a car accident a few months ago and totaled it. We then picked up a 2001 Mazda 626 , 4 cylinder not the 6 so it's good on gas.

2002 Volvo Cross Country here; great car. Looking to buy an additional SUV this summer, maybe a Grand Cherokee? I've always like the looks of those...

I want to keep the same make and model that I have now - Honda CRV, though I want a hybrid. They are supposedly coming out with one in 2008. I just hit 50,000 miles on my 2004, so by the end of next year I'll be looking again. :D

I have heard a lot of comments on the Honda. They are popular and people seem to be happy with them. We will definately look into them.

I drive a 1993 Buick LeSabre. Got it when it had less than 30,000 miles in '95, and I will be driving it until it won't drive any more ROFL. It is actually a great car - if I had the opportunity to buy a NEW car, I would probably get another Buick (I think they just phased the LeSabre out though).

They are very good autos/SUV's. Actually, my brother bought my 1996 Accord Sedan back in 2000. He has almost 200,000 miles on her and she looks great. :D
