What is the very saddest movie you have ever seen which made you cry your eyes out?

Me... it was on tv. Stared Patty Duke as a mother who's baby was stolen out of the backyard while she had to run into the house for a minute. As the movie goes on, it is Christmas time with her other older children. Time has passed, the baby was never found. So, a young man comes to town to meet the family. He found out who his origional mother was. Long story, he was adopted as a baby. He spends a lot of time and makes friend with the oldest boy, his age, in the family. The family takes him in as a good friend. Long story short, Patty Duke, the mother, realizes who he is. It is so sad.

I cannot remember the name of the movie. I sure wish they would show it again.

As for me, I'm not sure. Off the top of my head, maybe "Adam" but I'm sure there's others if I give it some thought.

"Always Remember I Love You" is the name of the Patty Duke movie, Janice. Leave to me, a die-hard PD fan. You can usually catch reruns (most likely on Lifetime) during Christmas since the closing scene, where Ruth (Patty Duke) realizes Robert is her son as she reads his letter, takes place on Christmas morning.

Saddest movie, IMO, stars Patty Duke's son Sean Astin. I always cry several times during "Rudy." Yes, I know it's a football flick, not a chick flick. But it gets to me. "Forrest Gump" does too.

My saddest movie that I ever saw was Alex: The Life of a Child. I first saw the movie at the age of 8 years old. I cried and cried. It is about a young girl named Alex who died from the disease Cystic Fibrosis at the age of 8. About the same age I was when I watched the movie. Sports Illustrator writer Frank Deford is her father and he tells the story of his daughter's life. It touched me forever and her life inpacted me a lot. I bought the book which also brought me to tears many times. Lifetime played the movie again a few years ago and I taped it. Let my cousin borrow the movie and she taped over it by accident. They never showed the movie again. Even though I wrote Lifetime countless times to ask them to replay it.

The first movie I recall making me sob was Brian's Song and then Love Story (although I despised Ali McGraw, she was so biotchy in that movie!).

The last movie that made me cry and it surprised me was - Revenge of the Sith. Yes a Star Wars movie, the last one and I knew how it had to turn out. That didn't matter, Lucas chose such profoundly sad music, that displayed evil over good, that I just cried. Couldn't help myself. One scene in particular - Order 66 - does me in each time. Years from now I know when I hear that music or see that scene, I'll be balling.......

PS - *edit* I was mistaken. I read the movie link/title I provided and it's not the Patty Duke movie but I swear it was! Both stories are similar.....that's creepy!

They're close. But in the Steven Stayner story, which was real-life, he was kidnapped and held by a child molestor. In the Patty Duke movie, the family who adopted the stolen baby raised him as their own in a loving, caring setting. He later returned to that family, after getting the chance to meet his biological mom (Patty Duke's character).
