Things Never Last

Things never last as long as in the old days. What is something you have to replace fairly frequent cause they just poop out?

Me.. I get a new keyboard for my computer about every year. Thank God, I can get them for around $20, they are really cheap these days. Good old Sams Club.

Electric can openers! I gave up, and now I just use a manual one.

coffee pots. they only last about a year in our house.

and major appliances dont seem to last as long as they used to either. we bought top of the line KitchenAid stuff and have had to have it repaired or replaced at least twice in 5 years.

Toaster ovens! You can tell how many we've gone thru by looking thru my cookie sheet drawer beneath my stove. I have at least 6 to 8 small cookie sheets and baking pans. The last inexpensive one we purchased, a Black & Decker, lasted a mere 8 months. That was it we said and consulted our Consumer Reports. We ended up ordering a new one for around $70, it works off of infrared heat, not your standard heating coils. It took some getting used to but now we love it. Hopefully it will last a long, long time. CR rated it very highly. We do put them thru a workout.

Another would be curling irons, back in the day when I wanted a more styled look, now I prefer straight hair, bent slightly on the ends. But when I used curling irons I swear they only lasted 6 months. And broke just when you needed it (when half your head was curled!).

That is why buying some appliances at yard sales is not a bad idea. My toaster and toaster oven came from yard sales and they have lasted years. You can find older models of things there and most time made much better the older they are. I think this applys to alot of things being made now, things just arent made to last anymore, its ashame really.

Yes, I have had Kitchenaid, etc. and the expensive do not last any longer than the cheaper. So, when needed, I buy at Walmart or Kmart. They carry name brands too.
