Military Veterans and S2K

With thousands of members here, I know there are dozens of veterans (and those on active duty) who visit and contribute to S2K.

I'll be the first to share a heartfelt thanks again for your service and sacrifice. If I could do it in person, I would shake your hand, look you in the eye, and say thanks in a way that you know I meant it.

Stand proud this Memorial Day weekend.

My son was in the army for only five months before getting sick. He was stationed at Fort Benning. After he finished his basic training, they spotted him with cancer. They were so good to him. He took a complete physical before entering and another one on base and they passed him on as a healthy 18 year old. He never went into remission or was elibible for a bone marrow transplant, so they decided at his review hearing that he was entitled for a full medical discharge with all the beneits. He went to Fort Sam Houston for all his treatments. I think he well deserved his full benefits because he enlisted and wanted to serve his country. They knew he was terminal too. Also, I am sure they knew the basic training was real hard on him with this sickness.

He said later, he never regretted anything, would do it over again and he made many friends there.

Thanks, he was only one of the many on Storm2 who served their country. My father was in Pearl Harbor and I know that Stormers have children, spouses and grandparents who served.

Yes, every one of those will be remembered today.

Steve I live less than a mile from langley..right across from NASA.

When I was there, the Apollo Astronauts would come there for training and after 11 Buzz Aldrin actually came through the Weather Station one time when I was on duty. We used to go fishing at Buckroe Beach in the Summer.

Here is my picture of Buzz. It is the origional newspaper. I have a long hallway to the bedrooms, etc. and I have about 20 old origionals on it. They get a lot of attention.
