My Stuff Never Lasts

#1 Postby Janice » Fri Jun 02, 2006 9:35 am

Do you go through a lot of one particular item at home? Seems like you are always running out of it...

Me... Kleenix and toilet paper

I have had a cold all month.

Sounds like you have some sort of allergy. Have you ever taken an allergy test?

No, no allergies here, just a cold. I hardly ever get a cold, maybe once a year. I think with a lot of stress lately and I am on a tight diet, my resistance is down a little.

I always seem to run out of paper towels and paper napkins...I usually only use linen or cloth napkins...but sometimes they are all dirty, and I go to grab a paper napkin, and there are none :(....its frustrating...bc the paper towels will be empty too!

Yes, I love cloth napkins too, but I only use them for company. I have lots of nice tropical placemats and napkins to match and we use them on the sunporch when we have company, fun... :bday:

Panic time. lol

I buy paper towels by the 8-pack, and when I get down to 2 or 3 rolls, I buy another package. That's one thing I refuse to run out of. Well, that and toilet paper! :)

We use our toaster oven all the time. I broil my tomatoes with garlic and cheese in them. Also, good for toasting breads and toast.

Paper plates, toilet paper, and paper towels. We go through them like water here. With 3 kids and 2 adults I buy in bulk as well, and it still seems like it goes fast.

Also Milk.

Southern, it is really easy and we love it...

Slice the tomatoes like quarters
Lay them in the oven tray
Spray pam on top... I use butter/garlic
You can also melt butter too
Lots of garlic and pepper
top with shredded motz cheese
I have used chedder too and it is good
Have the broiler on really hot
Put in broiler for only 5 minutes

I also do the same with zuccini
If the zuccini is real hard, steam a little till soft or they will be hard

For me, it's not just what I'M out of, but the store, too. I am forever going to this store or that, and guess what that ONE empty spot on the whole aisle or display is? Right! The only thing I went to the store for. This happens alot - just got me yesterday at the car parts place. No joke, the ONLY empty peg in the PCV valve section was for "my" model number.

With 4 teenage boys in the house: Lunch meat. I'm to the point that I don't buy it regularly. My wife would like it if we always had lunch meat around, but at $4.00 to $5.00 a pound, there's no way.

I have to admit I waste a lot of zip lock bags. I use them once and throw them away. There is no reason I cannot clean them and use them again. Just lazy, I guess.

You know what's really weird. I run out of all paper products at the same time, tissue, paper towels and toilet paper. The next week I'll run out of all my cleaning products, laundry detergent, clorax, fabric softener, windex, hand soap, dish soap and shampoo. Why does it happen like that??

Cause we use too much. We should be using our regular plates, cloth napkins, 4 squares of toilet paper , cloth nose blowers, etc.

I think all of us are wasteful. I can't recall my mother going thru this stuff as fast as we do. Of course, we were told only to use a small amount of everything. I think when you have a lot, you use more.

Here at my house it is , paper towels, toilet paper, fresh onions and potatoes.
Bread doesn't last here long either. My grandson will go get two slices of bread when he says he is hungry and eat just the bread or with a slice of American cheese in between . The hunger for him comes an hour after he has eaten a meal. so he is not really hungry, he just wants bread.
