The Best Quality Of Life

#1 Postby Janice » Mon Jun 05, 2006 7:11 am

If you sold your house, got your first retirement checks and planned to move outside the US, etc., where would you move.

Where on this planet would be the ideal place that had a great quality of life, really reasonable to live or retire, security and safety as in your own neighborhood and wonderful living conditions, weather, etc.

I have heard Mexico is really cheap to live in for retired Americans.

Costa Rica.

It's a beautiful country, much safer than Mexico, and still a good bargain. And it's relatively inexpensive to get to Miami from San Jose, the capital.

Thanks, it will be fun to check out. Even upon retirement, it would be fun to stay somewhere like that for a month. Might as well try to get to know other countries.

Sounds like water is an issue in Costa Rica. What good is a place if you can't drink the water?

When you are on a cruise ship and you are leaving daily for shore excursions, they have bottled water right at the door for people who want to take it on shore with them. Maybe it is safer so people don't react to others water. Some people come here and say our water tastes funny, but it is ok.

I would move to Yorkshire, England. Healthcare is always an issue, so I'd try to fast-track citizenship.

It's more of an issue in Mexico. Honestly, I toured Coasta Rica a few years back and drank the water and had no issues at all. If you're really concerned, you can just drink bottled water.

My water here in Sierra Vista is so heavily chlorinated it tastes like diluted bleach and bothers my gastric system so I drink bottled water here.

We used to live on Davis Island and the water smelled and tasted like gasoline.
One time we moved into a cute rental house (who thinks to taste the water before signing on the dotted line?) The water was extremely salty. We used bottled water, but bathing was like taking a dip in the ocean.
