Hope he died an excruciatingly painful death and that his soul rots in hell.
To the man (men?) responsible for taking him out, in the words of Anthony Edwards, I think, from Top Gun -- "Give that man a cee-gar!!" and isn't there a reward also? Maybe not the $25 million like we have on OBL's head, but something close?
*snicker* And what a great way to keep a person from smacking the snooze button when the alarm clock radio goes off! First thing I heard - the news theme music and then "The number one most wanted man in Iraq is dead! Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki confirms that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is, in fact, dead -- killed in a US bombing raid...." Probably woke up my neighbor at that point because I yelled "Yeaaaaahhhh!!!!' so loud!

Good news of course, but nothing to be ecstatic about. The man was a mass murderer by fundraising. He lacked technical experience as is evidenced through the military's video revealed just a while ago. Clearly a group of thugs decided to follow him, but never even close to the whole insurgency.
So what exactly am I supposed to be happy about? That one man in an insurgency of thousands is dead? He's a Jordanian! The conflict in Iraq is more and more a civil war between the insurgency and Shia death squads in Baghdad.
This news is good, but rejoice? Hardly. They'll just have a new leader tomorrow and the money will continue to pour in.

Jordanian...Afghani...Iraqi...why does his nationality matter? I don't understand that point.
Go ahead and be a party-pooper, Kev.

As far as videos go, so what if they show me that he couldn't fire a Minimi? The one video that sticks out in my mind is the one that shows he could hold a knife and use it in cold blood, and did so against Nicholas Berg.
Videos, schmideos anyway...I don't have to see a video to know what he represented, who he followed, and what he was willing to do to us. So I say, good riddance!

Hmm....maybe because we killed the guy that beheaded 2 American hostages on camera, not to mention the thousands of other murders he played a part in? Of course the insurgency will not disappear. But it is a GREAT day nonethless. Plus, 2 key positions of the Iraqi government were filled today.

I think the most important point of his death is that someone revealed his whereabouts. Maybe its a turning point for the Iraqi people and they are fed up with what's going on. Of course the driving force could have been greed, but whatever the reason I can't be sorry that this psychotic killer is dead. Perhaps they will find info on Bin Laden but I doubt it since they dropped two 500 precision bombs. Unless there was an underground bunker that wasn't damaged totally. Any thoughts?

With each piece of good news like this, we are closer to turning the tide. Every day it is a battle that we wage, but with every piece of good news like this means we are closer to the resolvement of this whole mess. I say mess, not in a negative way, but to what the US has been having to deal with. God bless the soldiers!

The fact that justice has been served for the beheadings is enough to rejoice about.

Apparently, he was the man that personally beheaded Nick Berg 2 1/2 years ago...so on CNN this morning...Soleded O'Brien was interviewing Nick's dad via the telephone... and when asked for his opinion...he said that he did not really rejoice over the fact that that guy died.
Which when I heard I found quite astonishing (since he was so personally connected to Nick). Two seconds later, as I was thinking that, Soledad had to say the very same thing..that she found it surprising. He kind of gave her a hard time..saying why would she find it surprising that was his view...since he never publicly said he wanted revenge blah blah blah.
In summary..the interview didnt go all that well...with Mr. Berg stating that why is it that that Iraqi leader was any worse than President Bush, stating that one kills 30,000 a year and the other kills 50,000 a year. Just ranting and raving about his political views.
I felt sorry for Soledad. She handled it well though.
