Safe Jobs

#1 Postby Janice » Tue Jul 11, 2006 5:40 pm

It seems like today everyone is taking computer science in college. With the overflow of people waiting for these jobs to open up and with outsourcing, what jobs do you think these days are really safe? A job that is in demand and most likely won't be outsourced. You may have to move, but at least there would be work in your field.

Me... a nurse

Auto repair

One factor is that the job must be done here. We won't be sending cars overseas for repair. Same goes for nursing. We won't be sending patients overseas either.

Selling shoes. Except one time I had to climb on the top of the ladder to get a certain size of work boots for a customer. I missed the second to last step and fell on the stockroom floor hard on my butt and the shoes fell down on top of me.

People who are barbers and hairdressers.

Since people will ALWAYS need haircuts, and the more people you know, the more haircuts you can give. This job will never end...and its pretty safe.

Plumber and electrician. Both are lucrative, and neither can be outsourced.
