My Wal Mart is in mourning yet again :(

Well, just as it appears we can put Mary's moms' sad death behind us. More tragedy to deal with..

Carlos, our Chemicals/Paper Dept. Mgr died last night at the young age of 33!

Carlos apparently died of suffocating himself while he had a seizure in his sleep. {He apparently liked to keep himself completely covered when he slept}

This brings up an interesting point. Is my Wal Mart store CURSED?. Before you say "That's a ridiculous observation" take a look at this..

These are a list of the major incidents that have happened at my Wal Mart store since Opening Day on July 18th 2001.

Pre hire: A gentleman that used to hate his job, actually constantly phoned the store making bomb threats, days later... he commited suicide.

One of our young ladies in the Smart Style salon went home and was murdered by her then jealous boyfriend.

A young man went into our store shortly before 11pm on 10/14/04, bought a propane tank, some firewood, went out to his car and blew himself up. {A crater still remains in our parking lot}

Since I started on 10/15/04:

12-12-04: Riding home from work, I was nearly killed in a nasty bike wreck.

Late March 2006: 2 of our o/n'ers were killed around 3am when they were driving home and struck by a semi. Allegedly the young man driving was drowsy from being on meds.

April 2006: Our dept. mgr from Fabrics died from cancer.

Last month: Mary's mom collapsed and died of an apparent massive heart attack while waiting to pay for her items. { I still call the registers by where she died.. 'the cursed registers"} 2 of our cashiers also had panic attacks as a result.

2 weeks ago: Our seemingly healthy co mgr had a heart attack.

Thursday night/Early friday: Our Chem. dept mgr died in his sleep apparently from a seizure.

About 3 months ago a stocker over at Bi-lo kill himself BUT he had a little help.The manger would call him into the office and tell him "Your nothing to us and your lazy and if we could I would fire you NOW!!!!But I can not find no one to take your spot."""This is how mangers at Bi-lo talk to employees.They call him into the office every day!!!!!!!AND tell him this load of crap!!!I knew this guy and worked very hard!!!BUT he started to believe this crap they were telling him.He began to think he was nothing and mint nothing to NO one.So one day he came home told his wife he is going to quit Bi-lo,she looked up and saw the gun to his head and we know the rest.

Rest in peace old friend. :cry:

Josephine 96 I'm sorry that this has happened to you so suddenly. IMO you should quit cause apparently your Wal-Mart is like the Bermuda Triangle.

I would think its coincidence. How many people does your Walmart employ?

At my previous job we averaged about 20 employees and during my tenure there 3 died, all from natural causes. Five of us lost a parent(counting myself even though my dad died a year after I left.) One lost a spouse; and many of us lost several close friends.

I do not think its a curse. Just a somewhat aboive normal amount of ppl dying.

BTW: My Wal Mart has between 500-600 employees

We had a support manager that worked at my store when she went home to take some medicine, she was killed in a automobile accident by a drunk driver. I also knew a cashier (a real dear friend of mine) who was murdered by her boyfriend at the time (which was an assistant mgr that hired me!).

We also had someone shot outside our garden center when he got into a struggle with a cop. He tried stabbing the cop and the cop shot him. My former supervisor died of cancer a few years ago. A lady on ICS died in an automobile accident when her car went into a canal. Just recently, a customer died in TLE while tring to change his tire.

Things change in this world so fast. The friends that you find along the way, hold dear to your heart and always remember the good times.

So true LaPlace.. so true..

FY 2006 has not been a good 1 for my store.. We've had 4 associates die.. 1 customer die and 3 associates have notable "illnesses" {2 [panic attacks and a heart attack}

Keep your job...there is nothing more "unusual " going on at Walmart than most other places.

Each of us here could say similiar things about OUR workplaces...just the way things are now. The size of the workplace....meaning a huge number of employees brings MORE instances of loss or strange occurances, my friend!......p :wink:

Date at work RS? Too much chance of sexual harassment charges if you ask someone out and they are offended, run to the boss and file charges. I've seen it happen and it ain't pretty.....MGC

Agreed there MGC. A mark like that on a work record is a HUGE red flag.
