Tanning Creams

#1 Postby Janice » Thu Jul 27, 2006 6:38 am

I know there has been a big improvement in tanning creams and I want to know if anyone has tried any of the new brands?

I saw on tv that they last a week and don't streak like the old ones.

I would like to give one a try.

I keep hearing you get good results with that cream Dove came out with. It has the word glow in it. My niece has used it. She has tons of freckles but tries so hard to get a good tan. Meanwhile, everyone in this family but my oldest (of the cousin's camp, I "will" get a tan, somehow) use 30 sunblock. Maybe late in the summer we switch to 15, but the 3 of us just pretty much know a tan is impossible. We all have fair skin and blue eyes! And I married a redhead. I tell my girls they are doomed - two parents that burn easily!

But again, the Dove product sounds as if it does work and gradually. Not like the old QT look of decades past!

the ones by Dove, Olay, and Jergens are all okay. They still smell a little weird. but the color is more realistic than that orange stuff of the past.

I remember fellow female (all girls high school ya know) classmates coming in to school with orange, streaked skin. All you had to ask was this question - QT? And they'd either want to cry, laugh or cringe. Or all 3! They had slept with the cream on their skin - ewwww!!! It wasn't much better if you laid out with the cream on but it wasn't as bad than w/o the sun.

Wonder if QT is even around still?

BTW - to younger members, it stood for Quick Tan.

I remember another one too. Something like Mantan... they were horrible. Your palms would be orange for days.

Well I tried that Jergens. Guess what? The palms of my hands turned orange.

I do not know the name of the product, but one recently was advertised on tv. It was none mentioned here. I remember them saying it did not stain the palms. I will have to try to catch it again and post it's name.

I used Hawaiian Tropic self tanning and it was really good. The secret of no orange hands is to wash them really good and under your nails after you apply the cream. Then you have to be sure and not sit down or lay down until it is dry. I have a very very fair complexion with a very STRONG history of skin cancer in my family so sun tanning is not an answer for me....either I'm white white or a slight brown with the self tanning cream. The only problem is if you don't keep using it then your legs kinda spot after it wears off after a couple of days :) Looks like freckles :) ROFL!
