SICK, TERRIBLE, EVIL...
"Great" - more and more of the darkness and evil of the world. What is the benefit of parroting these stories of tragedy and suffering? Just curious - I've quit clicking on any of these kinds of subject lines. I don't need extra dunking in misery - each day seems to hold it's own bits of horror and heartbreak without my intentionally reading more of it.
Just sayin'... I think it's better to plant good and positive things into one's mind. The dreams and feelings that grow from these are prettier, smell a lot better and have none of the thorns.

I think I know where HurriCat is coming from. Sometimes I tune into the 11 p.m. local news but after 5 minutes, you ask yourself - why did I want to watch again? It's all so sad, murders, shootings, robberies, etc. And then you add 50 states to the mix, not to mention the Middle East and well, it all rolls into one disturbing read. At least that's the way I am reading HurriCat's reaction to a string of sad topics.
When current events get to me too much, I need to regroup - either go on a walk with my dog, do yardwork, read a good fluff book (w/o a deep plot, LOL) or the best yet and I've been known to say this - we need to watch a Disney movie! Or as in my oldest daughter and my case, we need an "Anne Day" - as in watching Anne of Green Gables (even though fiction, it was just a kinder, more gentler era).
If I'm off base, please say so but I think I can understand this topic.

It's a way to vent our feelings with others, sometimes that helps
But I do agree, most of the news these days is nothing but doom and gloom. But we are all in this together.
Many drs and therapist are suggesting to their patients to stay away from the news and the newspapers if if affects them that badly. Of course that's a personal decision. Sadly, this is the world we live in.
