What has been the angriest that you've ever been

#1 Postby Cookiely » Fri Aug 18, 2006 4:42 am

What has been the angriest that you've ever been and how did you handle it?

The angriest I've ever been was with the manager at an apartment complex. I was having maintenance problems over and over and it was driving me batty. I started out calm, and by the second hour ended up leaning over in her face, and screaching at the top of my lungs. I'm such a passive person that I shocked myself and afraid of my loss of self control that I left, slamming the door so hard something fell off the wall inside and broke.

Come to think of it, I've never been angry. I hope that isn't all too strange.

I get angry at injustice. But as soon as the anger sets in, I usually switch to deep, profound sadness (I'm talking about child/animal abuse cases, 9/11, etc.).

As a rule, no I don't get that angry. Anger bleeds into other areas of your life. And I want the world to be a much kinder, gentler place that it is really is. This may sound corny, but it starts in the home. So I guess my motto is to spread kindness. I'm not really a super sunny person (sunny is!) but I do sincerely try.

My daughter, the great procrastinator, was the worst at getting dressed in the morning for daycare. One morning she absolutely refused to put on any outfit i picked out. Having pulled out every outfit she owned i was fit to be tied, she was crying. Finally out of sheer frustration i pulled out her dresser drawer, dumped the clothes on her (not the drawer though!) and told her in a deep angry voice through clenched teeth, "Pick something out now". Lo and behold she picked something out (which she had already been given the choice to wear) put it on and we went merrily on our way to daycare and work. To this day she's still the greatest procrastinator but at least she's a dressed procrastinator!

My father always told me that when you raise your voice and get angry, you have lost the battle and lost control of the situation. I live by that.

I've grown up with the fact that some anger is actually good and healthy.

I guess there are different types of anger. I think the worst 'hot anger' I've ever had would be when someone tried to pick a fight with my mother. The worst 'cold anger' would have to be immediately after 9/11.

At one of my previous jobs I had an abusive co worker. For a long time I shrugged off his abuse then the day came when I couldnt take it anymore. He had made a remark that is impossible to translate into "clean" language. A brief altercation ensued; I was sent home to cool off and returned the next day. My co worker drew a 5 day suspension. My bosses official position was that I was wrong to get physical and of course he was right. Privately he said I shoulda waited till after work and then whipped his a$$. This has been several years now..maybe 10 years..and I havent gotten that angry at an individual since.

The worst time was in 8th grade. Someone made a smart comment about my brother. I heard it and I screamed, "That's one thing I will NOT stand and take is comments about my family!" I totally wanted to kick the kid's @$$ but I kept it in check. Come to think of it, I think he drew a suspension for it.

Working under my former boss. I used to leave work nearly everyday in tears because of the cruel way she treated me. Thank goodness she is not my boss anymore. We were fixing to kill each other. Another time was when I found out that my boyfriend was seeing at least 2 other girls behind my back. But, I think it was more hurt than actual anger.

The thing that REALLY frosts my cookies and burns my cake is when I bust my @zz for WEEKS trying to make a case against some scumbag wife beater in a domestic violence case and the judge throws it out due to a LACK of substantial evidence, BS....don't get me started :grr: that's about the ONLY thing that REALLY gets me going, yeah, I get upset at times but not to the point of wanting to do bodily harm to someone!

Oh I know but being the new kid on the block (well, 1 year and 9 months) I'm still in shock the way the judges or in our case, a Justice of the Peace  , gets away with letting these scums go.

Actually that is really what I meant to say, sorry about that. The best part is when you do get a judge on your side and justice is served. That will happen more times than not. ((HUGS)) :D

My ex showed me that I had a temper that I did not know existed in me.

Once (or twice, or maybe a few more times), he stayed out drinking all
night, and, came home in the afternoon to sleep on the couch.

My tantrums consisted of playing Hank William's "Your Cheating Heart" over and over and over on the record player as loud as the
player volume would go (oh, no - I'm so sorry that your head hurts...) while I made as much noise as I could in the background....vaccum cleaner, blender, checking the smoke alarms, and my cursing!
