Murder at the Mall

#1 Postby CajunMama » Fri Aug 25, 2006 10:12 pm

A double homicide tonight at Victoria's Secret in the Mall of Acadiana here in lafayette tonight. My daughter had interviewed with them this summer. I'm now thankful she wasn't hired and could have possibly witnessed it. From what they said on the 10:00 news was that it was an estranged relationship.

Lafayette police confirm that 2 people are dead after two shootings at the Mall of Acadiana Friday evening.

Police say the first shooting happened in the Victoria Secret store. A male walked into the store and shot a female employee in the head, killing her instantly.

Police say the suspect then ran out of the store. Mall security and off-duty Lafayette police officers begin to chase him through the mall.

Officials says the suspect exited out of main entrance of the mall, near Talbot's and Coldwater Creek. Police say the suspect then turned and pointed his weapon at the officers. Lafayette police say their officers then shot the suspect and killed him.

The mother of another Victoria Secrets employee tells TV-3, she spoke with her daughter who was working at the time of the shooting. The daughter confirms that all other store employees are safe and unharmed.

Portions of the Mall of Acadiana remain open.

We continue to follow this story and will have the latest on Acadiana's News Channel at 10 pm.

This is another sad ending. I tell ya, domestic violence is getting out of control. They are now killing spouses in public places.

I am glad your daughter did not get hired Kathy!

Another "blue suicide". This monster was too cowardly to deal with a broken relationship, so he kills her. Next, he's too cowardly to shoot himself so he makes the police do it. Now they have to deal with it. Too bad nuts like him don't just end it by themselves off in the woods somewhere.

Oh yeah, clearly he's a nut.

Too bad hurt, lonely people like him can't just find help somewhere so they can learn to cope with break-ups (maybe she cheated on him -- that would cause a lot of people to feel rage and depression) and find hope to go on.

Nah, let's just send the message that suicide is okay. Just don't take anyone with ya.... *shakes head*

A similar incident happened at the Wal-mart in Houma. A man upset that his relationship ended, shot his estranged girlfriend to death while she was working at the photo center. She left behind 4 children. He hid at a Houma motel until police were able to arrest him. Very sad.

What's with people who gotta solve their estranged relationships with a gun or a knife...or for that matter domestic violence?
