When a 40-year-old mother of three grown children walked into the world of internet chat rooms, posing as a 13-year-old cheerleader, she had no idea the response she'd get. “It was an experiment, and curiosity, and disbelief,” said Jane Patterson. “Immediately, many people wanted to talk to me. So many so I'd have to close windows and pretend like I wasn't on line.”

Her screen name, "acheerforu", attracted chats with adult men. One of those men was 41-year-old Robert Lee Turnley. When his chat got out of line, she had him arrested for criminal solicitation of a minor.

“I wish that individual hadn't done that, but I also feel like there's a 13-year-old girl out there that may be safe,” said Patterson.
