I was in my car and I still remember the exact intersection where I first heard it on the radio.
I turned the radio on and the two DJs from the typical morning show were on the air. They were saying things like "tragedy for America" and "sad day in America." They were being very vague, and I assumed from their words that President Bush had been killed. They eventually updated the whole situation. The first plane had hit and they were assuming it was a terrorist attack.
I flipped through the stations and most had gone over to simulcasting the national news networks (mostly CNN and CBS). They were reporting that it seemed to be an accident.
In my flipping I found Howard Stern who was assuming that it was an attack from Osama Bin Laden.
I still find it interesting that the only ones to get it right were morning radio hosts.

I was on vacation with family in Hilton Head, SC and I remember my uncle coming in my bedroom and waking me up to come out and watch the tv. By then the second plane had already hit the tower. We watched the tv all day. I think we finally left to go get something to eat around 6 or so. There was noone out. It was like a ghost town.

Just coming back from school and I came home to see the first tower go down, I think just about eeryone knows where they were on that day, even here in the UK ther ewas utter disbelief, ironic that had Erin been further west this may never have happened...
I can relate to the people in New York even more now after 7/7 here in the UK with the bombings in London.

I had just started work that day and my co-workers wife called him and said a plane went into the WTC in New York... I didn't believe him. Then his wife called him back and said another plane went into the other tower... and then I started to panic realising something was going on weird.
It was a crazy scary kinda day learning all the news little by little, but we got to leave work at 3pm that day and I came home and watched tv the rest of the afternoon.

I was dropping off the twins at a Moms dayout program. When I went into their classroom the teachers had a t.v. on with the news on all gathered around. I sat there with my mouth hanging open in disbelief. I watched the 2nd plane hit while there with my girls. It seemed so unreal. You just knew something like this could not be happening in your country, but sadly it did.

I was stationed in Germany at the time, working the 11pm to 7am shift. After waking up at around 4pm on the 10th, then going to work that night, I had plenty of things to take care of during the day of the 11th. (Mind you with the time difference, the attacks occurred during the afternoon hours of the 11th, Central European Time)
At around 2pm that day, I was VERY tired (had been up for 22 hours), and was set to go to bed. Just as I was getting to sleep, my friend pounded on my door. It was urgent sounding, so I answered the door--something I usually wouldn't do.
After he told me what happened, I quickly dismissed it saying, "Things like that you shouldn't joke about." He had me turn on the TV where every channel--American, German, British, and Spanish, had coverage.
Of course, after something of that caliber, I didn't go to bed and had to go to work that night. It was definately one of the toughest nights of my career. The base was in lockdown, I was EXTREMELY tired, the weather was rather difficult, and manning was low due to the security concerns regarding workers that lived off-base--all on top of digesting the events that had occurred.

I was in the Second Grade when I first heard. Some kids were telling me that two planes had crashed, I didn't beleive them. When I got home, my mom says,"Turn on the television, the Twin Towers have been attacked!" We turned it on and we see President Bush talking and after he was done, to my horror was a video of the burning towers. And to think that that my family was on those towers only three months before the attack.

I was starting my School Day at Nimitz High School when I got the news of the attacks. Normally, music from an Oldies Station is played as a 1-minute warning before the tardy bell rings. Instead, I heard Pres. Bush saying, "I want everyone to join me in a moment of silence during this tragic time...". I didn't know what was going on until the TVs were turned on to ABC, and that's when my jaw dropped. All the classes were delayed that day.

I was at work, at the time I worked right behind the Phila International Airport, the wings of the Delta planes hung over our parking lot. One of my co-workers got a phone call from his wife he hung up and said A plane just went into the WTC. We thought at first it was a horrible accident, then he got another call and then said a second airplane went into the WTC. We then tried to get a radio or something to find out what was going on. We weren't allowed to go on the net at the time, but I went to the CNN page and saw the pics, then all heck broke loose, we heard about the 3rd plane, we looked at the planes behind us and just wanted to get out of their. We finally were allowed to leave at noon, and it took me 3 hours to get home, I-95 was a parking lot and then just went home and watched TV till the wee hours of the morning, it was a horrific, surreal day.

I was at school when it all happened. I was following history classes and we were discussing the history of my city and why our main cathedral partially collapsed during a destructive storm in the 17th century (it's a bit strange that we were actually discussing that). When school was (around 3.30 pm) out I grabbed my bike and cycled back home with a few friends. On my way back home I didn't notice anything that pointed out something terrible was going on; streets were still very busy and no one was talking about it. It was like noting had happened. When I arrived at home, I opened the door and my mom told what had just happened. I spent the rest of the day looking at the live news coverage.

I was here at work. The president of our company came in to my office and told me of the first plane. Thinking it was a small plane and something minor, I continued to work. When the second plane hit, we started watching on TV. We saw the first tower collapse. My daughter and grandaughter from Roanoke were visiting and staying at my house. I said, "I'm outta here" and headed for home. On my way home driving on the Pa. Turnpike, I heard on the radio that a plane had crashed "East of Pittsburgh". I was driving and looking up in the sky for airplanes of any kind. Needless to say I was really scared. Although the skies were cleared of all commercial aircraft by mid afternoon, we could still hear military aircraft around the Pittsburgh area.

I was at work at Wal-Mart that day. I heard customers telling people that planes crashed into the towers. On first thought, I thought it was an accident. Then later on during the day I realized what really happened. Our manager called all associates together and told us what happened. That was one crazy day!!!

I was at my job as a cook that morning when my normally calm boss ran in and yelled to turn on the TV and we were under attack.. A short time later a waitress came into the kitchen and told us the Pentagon was hit too. Came home around 3 and watched TV and went into storm2k chat..I do remember Breinla being there that evening. That evening here the streets were deserted as many businesses, including some of the malls, were closed.

I was at school in personal fitness. Someone came in telling the teacher that the WTC had been hit with a plane and to turn on the TV. We all sat and watched the second tower get struck, then the towers collapse. People were thinking it was Saddam Hussein, but me and this other fellow tried to explain that it was probably Osama bin Laden. There was a lot of false news and rumors that day. In every class we watched the television. Not one thing was accomplished.
I have never been so angry at something so distant. It committed me completely to the study of foreign affairs and history. In short 9/11 changed my life, like it did for many of us, and there is no going back.
