Sweet 16

#1 Postby sunny » Wed Sep 20, 2006 1:35 pm

How many remember your Sweet 16?!!! We are having my niece's Sweet 16 party this Saturday - I get to serve as a chaperon!! They don't do it like they used to - it's all theme parties and such now.

Sweet 16, I've heard it's a big thing in the US or so. Can anyone explain me what it is exactly? I don't think we have something like that over here.

It was just another birthday when I was growing up, was no big deal, as it should be anyway.

I was too cool to have a sweet 16 party around my parents. LOL. Really I didn't want nothing to do with it. I don't want to say what I ended up doing that night but it was a night I will always remeber(and its not what your thinking). Just be glad she is a good girl and wants to have this party. Sounds like alot of fun, enjoy. :D

Sis, I'm sure if you're a chaperone, those kids will have a great time and your niece will feel so very special.

I don't think so Yarrah. At least I've not heard of any young men celebrating their 16th birthday like that. I could be wrong, though.

Ah well, I'm pretty happy with my big 'I'm 18, at last' birthday party I had this summer, so I guess I haven't missed that much.

Anyway, congrats to your niece and I hope you have a really great time.

Same here! My daughter didn't think 16 was that important. Now her 17th (no more curfew on the drivers license) and then the 18th (able to legally get into bars)...those were her biggies. She can't wait until 21 now!

Sunny, I hope your niece has a wonderful time and a magical night to remember!

Has anyone seen the Sweet 16 show on, what is it?, vh-1 or mtv or whatever? Unreal the $$$$$$$ spent on those spoiled girls. They'll be in for a rude awaking one day.

My daughter loved her sweet sixteenth birthday which was this past February. I would never spend that much money (like the show). Don't get me wrong, I spoil my only girl, but she knows her boundaries too. Not easy being the parent of a teen these days!
