I got a new used computer!

#1 Postby coriolis » Sat Sep 30, 2006 7:09 am

In keeping with my tradition of never buying a new machine, I won an auction at work for surplus hardware.

I got a P-3 600 machine for $30.08 with XP and a 21" monitor (old but works great) for $6.00!!!

The $0.08 was inserted into my bid in case anyone else bid within the last 5 seconds like I did. It worked, because with 10 seconds to go, the bids were in the high $20's and going up a dollar at a time. Someone else bid $30 with about 5 seconds to go, and my 8 cents clinched it. Gotta love it!

Now we will have a total of 3 computers lined up on several tables, with an 8-foot bench. We have a regular computer lab going. This will really help with 3 kids addicted to Runescape.

Ed, that's great! My Dell is a year old, now, but, it serves it's purpose for the
very few things that I do online. LOL, I'll need another car before another
computer (well, those are my plans, anyway)!

OK, I brought it home, plugged everything in and away I go...

Everything works; internet, email, everything connected and started effortlessly. Unbelievable. It must be XP. It is sooooo much better than ME.

The monitor is 21" and it's awesome. It's like wide screen TV. SIX BUCKS!!!!!!
