High School Student Attempted Suicide - Katy, Texas

Just received this from my sister who is a teacher in the district. Trying to find out more...

Apparently there was a shooting in Seven Lakes HS (the new one in Katy). The news is reporting that it appears that it was self-inflicted. The school is on lockdown and the police and lifeflight are on site.

This is not information to be shared with the students at this time.

So far, it was only a suicide attempt. He was flown by Lifeflight to a nearby hospital. I pray he survives.

Seven Lakes High School Student Life Flighted After Apparent
Self-Inflicted Gun Shot Wound

(October 17, 2006) - A Seven Lakes High School student was life flighted
today after an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound sustained in an
outside area adjacent to the school cafeteria at approximately 12:05
p.m. Although there are no additional threats to students,
administrators issued a campus lockdown to allow police investigation to
proceed without possible damage to or loss of evidence.

The student was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. No word has been
received on his condition. A parent was notified and was escorted to the
hospital by a Katy ISD police officer.

Parents are being allowed to pick up their children before the end of
the school day.

The district will provide information in a timely matter as it arrives.

Such an event happened at the school I go to as well last year. And I actually talked to him once.
