I was curious to see what the fire situation was around Pinetop.

Have they received ANY rain from Claudette?

I was wondering the same thing Steph. He was keeping us updated and then nothing from him. I am hopeful that no news is good news in this case.

Haven't seen Dennis around either but the news from up the road is
that the Kinishba wildfire is 45% contained since it has been raining
in the mountains - not a steady rain but showers from Claudette.
The evacuees were allowed to return to their homes; Pinetop/ShowLow
seem to be out of the woods (so to speak). Here's the link:

The Native American Festival is this weekend up there so Dennis & Michelle
are probably very busy with that too. All firefighters/supporters get in free.

I heard much the same thing in the wee hours this morning on TWC; an on-site reporter in White River was shown interviewing an elderly homeowner, who placed plastic coffee cups in her fence which read, "GOD BLESS YOU, FIREFIGHTERS", "THANK YOU" so it could be read from a distance. :D

Thanks for the update M2! I wasn't sure if he did actually get anything from Claudette or not - he was quite doubtful under the USA Weather board (for obvious reasons).

Bill - I wish I saw that interview! That must've been so cool.

Hopefully Dennis, Michelle and motley crew are taking a much needed break!

I did hear from Dennis this morning.......he said he and Michelle have been VERY busy working security on the evacuated homes. He and Michelle are safe, (and their home!) but the fire is still not completely contained. He said they may not be "released from duty" for another two weeks or so!

Durn-it! I'd planned on meeting with them for lunch while I'm out here in Az.....just have to plan it for my next visit............p

"HI HONEY.......I'M HOME!"

Well.......needless to say, the past 3 days have been very interesting!

First off, "Thank You EVERYONE" for your concern, words cannot express my feelings at the moment, I truly feel like a part of the family.

Now......I posted the latest update on Azskymans "Fire near Pinetop" thread, as you will see, we are NOT out of the woods, so to speak, just yet, as with any wildfire, things can change in the *blink of an eye* as witnessed with the Aspen Fire near Tucson last month. Anyways, the fire is at 60% containment, it's not longer a crown fire THANK GOD due to the rise in humidity and rainfall............speaking of rain  Yesterday was the 1st measurable rainfall we've had thus far, .43", add that with the trace that we've had, we're at .45" for the month of July, a "FAR CRY" from the normal 6.25" in a normal monsoon season, keep that raindance going folks, the outlook for more appreciable rainfall looks better with each passing day, keep your fingers crossed.

As petal said, we went from roadblock duty to security mode.......we worked the dogs in 2 hours shifts, we walked the evac'd neighborhoods with one dog at a time to *show force*, now really........a SAR dog on patrol  We worked 16 hour shifts, camped out at the ICP Thursday night, Friday night and came home last night. We are taking today off then back to roadblock duty until the fire is at 100% containment, we are blocking the roads leading into the fires nothern flank, you'd be AMAZED at how many ppl want to *sight see* the area, human nature

Well folks, I need another cuppa Joe and "MAYBE" even go BACK to bed, once again, "Thank you SO very much" from the bottom of Michelles and I heart, you have NO idea what that means to us!

Whew, I am so glad that you two are okay!! I got worried and tried to call you a couple of times. God has been with you both throughout this ordeal and will continue to strengthen you and nourish you! Get some rest my friends, you need it!

Hi Sandi!

Yes.....we received your voicemails at home and on the cell phone, the cell phones do not work (at least Verizon Wireless phones don't) in Whiteriver, I had plans of returning your calls but by the time we got home it was late, dark.....we had over 16 voicemails here at the house and about that many on the cell phone.
