I'd also like somebody else to do the labor.
What do you want for Christmas that you know you won't get?

I'd like paint and carpet and new linens to re-do my bedroom.
I'd also like somebody else to do the labor.

A Christmas Day dinner with just my in-law's. One of my SIL's invited my mother, who years ago used to attend the 25th dinner with my in-law's. But she was so unreasonable about that day I had to stop bringing her (long, long story). She's already ignoring the fact that my FIL has a long-term girlfriend and behaving badly (outraegously flirting with him). Yes they're both in their 80s and technically single. Wish me luck with all of this - I will be at this function for only a few hours, until I can no longer take it anymore and cart her to the car. Normally I'd drink but I'll be the one driving! What fun that day will be.......so yeah, I'd love to have a quiet 25th but it'll be anything BUT!

I think that is GREAT your Mom can flirt. I cherish EVERYDAY I have with my Mama. I will not regret one thing. And it is a GREAT time when we enjoy another Christmas together. I never have a holier than thou attitude about anyone because people are people and should not be judged, especially at Christmas.

Oh no - imagine the Everybody Loves Raymond TV show character of Marie Barone pushing her way into another family's holiday dinner. That's MY mom. Wish me luck. I had to ban her for a few years there........she is so demanding and wants her own way. When it isn't even her own family's holiday dinner! Why they invited her this year I'll never understand (well the SIL who is hosting it had a few glasses of wine by the time she invited my mom). I joke by inviting my mom they are in a sense univiting me, b/c we'll arrive late and leave early. I won't even be with my husband and daughters that day. It will be my mom and me. I'm dreading it, to be honest. Yep - Marie Barone - to a T!
Linda - the flirting is very inappropriate. My FIL has a steady girlfriend of 8 years now. I should pay for her plane ticket.....LOL
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. I will never embarrass my grown daughters this way. My mom knows she's a major handful.
