Paula Zahn and CNN are hosting a town meeting in Beaumont tomorrow night, to discuss the racism in Vidor. They've already taken over the Jefferson Theater in Beaumont.
Gee, news that slow? Why don't they dredge up Klan members from the 70's as well?

I can't believe Beaumont is letting them do it.

Btw, Vidor is a few miles east of Beaumont...between Beaumont and Orange and although there aren't many, some black people DO live there. Most citizens there are not even racist.

Vidor is not only the racist town in America. Racism does not know geography. I remember on Glenn Beck radio show, his first encounter with the KKK was in Connecticutt. Racism is prevalent in Asia, especially in Japan and South Korea.

I've driven through Vidor before. I didn't feel any racism, even though I am Asian.

I have noticed the most segregated cities are in the North, particularly Boston, Detroit, and Chicago. Sometimes they even segregate by nationalities, especially in Chicago and Boston. Houston is not as segregated, but not like Northern cities.

Some of the steel mill cities like Pittsburgh and Weirton are or were segregated by nationality because when people imigrated to the US to work in the mills, they wanted to live by people who could speak their language (Polish, Greek, Italian, etc.) They felt more confortable. A lot of these neighborhoods still exist however most of them kinda disolved as folks got to know one another and were able to converse more fluently.. Some women still prefer to live and "neighbor" with their own nationality because they have more in common. They have a "history" that goes back generations. My family is Scotch and English and my great, great, great grandparents came to this country long ago. It took quite a bit of "a$$ kissing" for me to be accepted by some of my Italian and Polish friends' parents. lol

True. Industrial Revolution in America started in the North. You have Pittsburgh, Chicago, Cleveland, and Detroit, which are major industrial cities. Those communities have deep seated traditions and are rooted.

It is not just white Americans gtalum. I am 50% Indian and was called a "wetback Mexican" by a co worker. Blacks also discriminate against whites. Get over it.
