Don't get me mad!!!!!!

#1 Postby Pburgh » Wed Dec 20, 2006 3:40 pm

Well I went to the Dr's office yesterday to have my BP checked it was 167/102. That means it's going down. I don't go to Doctors at all ever/never/nadda/nope. I had a really, really bad sore throat about 3 weeks ago to the point where I couldn't even swallow my saliva!!! Ok so I made a Dr. appointment. When they checked my BP it was 230/130. YIKES I refused going to the hospital and office EKG and blood work were all normal. She put me on meds and has adjusted them two times. Little by little I'm improving. She said it's probably been high for quite some time and I just didn't have any symptoms. Oh, by the way, my throat, which is and was the only thing that bothered me is finally getting better. LOL

Karan, 167/102 is not very good. You need to get it down to about 110/70 or in that bottom number area anyway. My gosh that is nothing to play around with, especially with it being in the 130 range. TELL HER BREEZE!

Don't make me come drag your butt to the dang doctor. Just goes to show you that your BP was more important to your doc than your sore throat. Keep the doctor! :D

OK Karan. My BP just went up thinking about the need for yours to go down!

Keep workin' on it. The S2k 10-year anniversary will be rolling around in, say about, 6 1/2 more years and we'll all need to be here for the celebration!!!

So while you are working on your BP, I'm working on my triglycerides!!

Oddly enough, Dave had about the same thing happen to him this past October, with BP actually higher than yours! He argued with the doc about giving him time to get back to the gym, etc., but the doc said NO WAY and he is now taking the meds. So far so good.

Were you taking any over the counter meds for you sore throat? Most of those meds will cause your blood pressure to be high...I can't take any ever...

My mom has experienced that kind of BP problem as well.

Take Linda's advice.

That sore throat did you a favor! I'm so glad that your high BP was caught in time and I hope that you can get your pressure even lower than that.

Karan! Yikes, that's a little scary! Please take the wonderful medical advice you've been given here. I refer to WebMD a lot, for my online medical info. I'm sure there would be helpful suggestions there and possibly a message board for high BP.

Take care of yourself - we need you around here!
