Reports: Saddam Hussein's Sons Possibly Killed
POSTED: 11:29 a.m. EDT July 22, 2003
UPDATED: 11:44 a.m. EDT July 22, 2003
U.S. officials say they're investigating whether two of Saddam Hussein's sons are among the dead in a raid on a suspected hideout of high-ranking former Iraqi officials in the northern town of Mosul.
The raid sparked a shootout between members of the 101st Airborne Division and gunmen holed up inside.
Four Iraqis were killed in the raid on the house -- which later burned down.
The identities of the dead are not certain, but officials say they're trying to determine whether Saddam's elder sons, Odai and Qusai, are among the dead.
High-ranking Iraqi officials have been killed in the raid at the center of anti-American resistance in Iraq, according to broadcast reports.
U.S. military officials told CNN that four people were killed in the raid, and nobody was captured. The officials told CNN two of the dead may have been Odai and Qusai Hussein.
CNN, citing White House sources, reported the White House is "reasonably optimistic" Saddam's sons are dead.
According to The Associated Press, a firefight erupted when U.S. forces surrounded the home of a cousin of Saddam in Mosul. Residents said Saddam's sons were the target of the raid.
The raid was based on information that Saddam's sons were in the building.

Heck, I'd accept 'em on a frisbee, a paper plate, or some old plank of wood that someone once used to board up their windows. As long as it was really...and finally...their heads.

This is good news. Two less obstacles to contend with in Iraq. I haven't been home all day until now so thanks for the info.

But wouldn't it be nice if we could see the bodies of those two being dragged through the streets and kicked and stomped on by the Iraqi people?
That's probably what most of the Iraqi's want, but...its our moral obligation to wean them off that barbaric mentality
