Monovision Contact Lenses

#1 Postby CajunMama » Sat Jan 06, 2007 12:04 pm

My opthamologist talked me into them. I hope they work out. I'd love to get the laser surgery done but i heard that those with thyroid disease can't have it done.

So anyone have experience with the monovision contacts?

I've never even heard of them. Image

I wear Optix 2 by Ciba Vision. I've thought about getting laser surgery, but I worried my eyes would get worse after I got it and then I'd end up wearing contacts again anyway. I guess I should look into it a little more. I've been wearing contacts since I was about 15 and I'd love to be able to wake up and actually SEE without putting on my glasses or my contacts. I hate myself in glasses and only wear them around the house.

Yep - I use Monovision. Took a week or so to adjust to them, but I am doing great now :D

I was thinking of having the Lasik done - but have heard a few stories that made me think twice.

Wish I could wear contacts but I have a *stigmatism* (sp)...so I can't!

I too have heard horror stories about Lasik and knowing MY luck I'd go blind within a week of having it done! The technology truly isn't that old (I think) and that's what stops me from doing it....I'd like to see about 30 years worth of studies done on people that HAVE had it done before I'd even consider it!

Dennis, you can wear contacts with astigmatism. You'll need the touric lenses. I have that too and with today's lenses it's amazing what they can correct.

I wear Day/Night lenses... and yes, I have minor astigmatism in my left eye... the doc brought down the left eye contact prescription a bit to counteract the astigmatism.
