Thank you all!! Here's an update after seeing them this evening:
The mom is due to have a C-section a week from tomorrow (Jan. 19th) at 8:00 am. According to her ultrasound, the baby's head is larger than it should be...the torso is ok length wise, but width-wise, it's too small, leaving little room for his lungs to expand and his heart...his heart sounds ok, which is good...his limbs are short for 37 weeks (they're measuring at 30-31 weeks). So, basically, he has skeletal dysplasia, though they're not sure at this time which variety it is, so it's a wait and see game.....
Ultimately, it's in God's hands. If the baby can breathe on his own outside of her, he's got a decent shot, but that's the concern. The doctors aren't sure whether his torso will allow his lungs to expand so he can breathe.
After being with them tonight, they have a wish for one of two outcomes: they either want the baby to survive so he can live a relatively normal life, or they want him to pass. They don't want him to suffer in any way, so they're hoping for it to not be too bad, or bad enough he can't breathe.
All I can ask at this point is just prayers for them and strength for them. The baby's fate (they want to name him Riley) is in God's hands now, so we can't pray for that.....I just want them to know that there are people in the world looking out for them and loving them, even if they're unknown people.
Thank you all for the continued prayers, and I will update as soon as I know anything more.
