These shootings are happening everywhere.
In schools, churches, the work place, etc.
We aren't safe anywhere anymore.

Full moon was the 13th, but, heck - criminals don't even
go by that, anymore! I used to work in the ER, and, we
dreaded working evenings, every full moon night - stabbings,
shootings, you name it... But, it doesn't matter about
the moon phase, now. I agree with Bonnie - we're not
safe anywhere, anymore!

I'm old enough to remember when we slept in this suburb of Atlanta on summer nights with the windows up...didn't even worry about locking the doors -- but not anymore!

Now once the sun does down in the evening, my .38 revolver filled with hollow points is always lying on the coffee table next to me here in the living room....just in case.

There haven't been any serious crimes in this neighborhood yet....but there have been armed robberies, sexual assaults, and two murders just across the woods from this subdivision (around the Kroger shopping center and adjacent apartment communities). I hear crimes on my police scanner occurring in this town that would have been unthinkable 25 years ago (and compared to what happens in Atlanta, it's still calm and peaceful out here in the burbs).

This is unbelievable...truly unbelievable. Just this evening I went out to close the back fence and I thought I heard something behind the trees and I quickly looked back to make sure nothing was there...just goes to show what this World has turned into. :(

One of my "problems" is that I was well-conditioned to view the world as an unhappy, dangerous place, and acted/reacted accordingly.

Time and circumstances have not altered that initial assessment...I still sleep with a SOG "SEAL 2000", or a Cold Steel "Government QM" under my pillow (the wife doesn't like guns, so I employ what I can).

At this location I actually DO feel safe. We live in the suburbs of a small city that has maybe 2 murders a year. There is very little crime that could be called "random." Around here, EVERY Murder, and 99% of assults are perpetrated by someone known to the victim. The vast majority of those are drug related (Drug deal gone bad), or domestic situations. If we would be a victim of a crime, it would be some kid that wants to get back at our kids. I think that someone stole a basketball from our front yard, once. It doesn't hurt to have 3 dogs in the house. They bark out the front window when someone walks up the street. My wife and kids are afraid of someone like Freddie Kruger, but they watch WAY too much TV.

Pinetop is "Small Town America!" I have yet to lock the front door at night, never lock the cars/pickups at the grocery store, the only thing I have to worry about at night if I take a stroll........"BARS".....big ol Black Bears "LOL!" and a few Willie Coyotes of course.

This scene is changing however, Show Low, just 13 miles to my NW has become the source of many petty thefts as of late, this in part is due to the number of migrante workers passing thru.
