British 14yo says being pregnant is fashionable

Her boyfriend was 13 when he knocked her up! She's only 14, but looks 17/18

I'd say stupid more than fashionable. That is wrong....... If I did that.... I would not have been around to see another day.

From the friends i've known whose teenager daughter who get pregnant, the grandparents ended up raising the child while the mother just goes on about her life like she didn't have a child. The grandparents chose to put their life on hold and raise another child.

I've told my daughter that if she ever got pregnant, the child is her and the fathers responsiblity. I've told her i'll love the child but i will not raise it. You want to act like and adult...well here's the responsiblity of an adult.

The article is soooo right when it said, "...having a baby is now regarded as "fashionable" among schoolgirls." *shakes head* Don't these kids realize how much of their future is hurt?

obviously not. Like I said at the end of the first post... The way I was raised... I had to keep a nickel between my crotch until I was in college. (Figuratively speaking)... and IF I became pregnant... the child was MY responsibility, not my mothers or step-dads.

What these kids don't understand is the TRUE responsibility of having a child. They are adults now.

Jeez. Idiots. One 13, one 14, wasting their whole childhood. Because that's what they are. CHILDREN. Having children. It's sick.

I guessed where she was from before checking the article but was wrong. Some areas are definitely worse than others.

If you've seen Little Britain you will have seen Vicky Pollard but I have to say these characters actually exist all over the place. I'm sure she'll end up with plenty of government benefits.....

Scary thing about those shows is that the characters played are far from fictious. It makes these shows possible though, which is a good thing ;)

Anyway, since when is being stupid and trowing away some good chances in your life fashionable?

Have a look at this Wikipedia article, it is pretty accurate. The term chav has even entered general usage over the last couple of years with the spread of them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav

I know a few girls who had several children before the age of 18. Just ask them if it's "fashionable". Btw: guess who paid/pays for these kids? You and me.

My friends are dropping babies faster than I can type this sentence. Two close friends of mine have two kids each, one 18 and one 17.

In total, four friends of mine have babies, all under 19.

When I was a teen the word "pregnant" was a very scary word for me and alot of my friends. That was the most horrible thing that could happen back then. Now it seems to be the thing to do. We can blame that on irresponsible parents. Oh how times have changed!

The daughter of a friend of my Father got pregnant when she was 14 back in the late 1950's, then her daughter got pregnant at age 14 and then the GRANDDAUGHTER got pregnant at age 14 making the first one a Great Grandmother at age 42! Her Old Man was so incensed he disinherited his daughter and her daughter (and he was loaded money wise). If the trend continues the next baby in the chain is due about now.

I saw that with a a family friend too, except as far as I know it only went two generations and there wasn't any money involved. The Mom had the older sister at 16, then she got pregnant at 16 and then her sister(my friend) did the same. Speaks volumes about the parental responsibility that is involved in this , though it probably isn't always the case.

fashionable???

A girl at my school (about 16 or 17) got knocked up and wound up getting an abortion. All I see in her is a complete idiot.

Same with this person.

Well there was a 12 guage wedding involved when the first pregnancy occurred. Curiously, there was an older brother and younger sister in the Family and they went through the the more normal routine (in those days) of getting married first.

Just reading that story now, no offense, but it shows how stupid teen girls can be these days. Here, it's anorexia and bleach blonde hair and skinny skinny cheese strings, in Europe it's turning into babies. I miss the 90s.
