Mark will be laid to rest at 9:30 Monday morning

#1 Postby CajunMama » Tue Mar 06, 2007 9:28 pm

My nieces husband was critically injured in Iraq last Friday. They were able to stabilize him in Iraq and move him to Germany. On Sunday a burn unit from Brooke Army Medical Hospital was sent to Germany to assess him and help bring him back to the States. He was stabilized enough and they made it back to San Antonio last night.

The news is not good. His 2 buddies and interpreter were killed. Mark was the gunner on top of the vehicle. He survived but had both legs amputated above the knee, lost a kidney and has 3rd degree burns on 70% of his body. He is on dialysis and they are still assessing him.

Here's the cnn report on what happened in iraq:

Elsewhere Friday, two American soldiers and an interpreter died and a third U.S. soldier was wounded when a roadside bomb exploded northwest of the capital, the military said.

The soldiers, from Multi-National Division-Baghdad, were on a routine route-clearance patrol northwest of the capital -- to assess the safety of the road -- when the incident occurred.

Please take the time to say any special prayers that you can. He, his wife and family really need them now. His family has put up a website to keep everyone abreast of his condition.

God bless you Mark...we love you.

def. in my prayers, cajun! You know, we hear about soldiers being injured and being hurt, and worse, dying, weekly in Iraq but usually they just become stats. since we don't know them personally.

Now along comes a case where you actually know someone who happens to be in your family... and it just makes the war more real.
I'm so sorry.
Praying for him!

Prayers still on the way. Everyone, tell a friend or family member this story and ask them to Pray and then ask them to pass it on and on and on.... The S2K pray warriors have worked miracles and if we take a minute to extend this Prayer chain it will happen again. We all tend to take certain things in life for Granted and sometimes we take our freedom for granted as well. It's because of Men and women like Mark and the bravery they show and sacrifice they make.... that we are free. My Prayers go out to Mark and his entire family. God Bless you young Man and Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely
Johnathan :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag:

Prayers on the way. It defintly hits home when its a person or group rather than a stat. I know what this feels like because I have lost 2 friends in Iraq and my father was moderatly injured in afganistan.

Cathy - OMG, I am so very, very sorry to hear this. Yes, of course I will pray. I began the minute I read your topic title. My niece's husband served in Iraq for over a year and we became very close to him. I love how your topic said nephew and not nephew in law. That is how we felt about our niece's husband - full fledged family. He is going to need you all, more than ever. My heart is breaking for him and all of you.

God Bless this young man for all he's given to his country - yes indeed.

:-(
