Spring??

#1 Postby Pburgh » Sat Mar 10, 2007 2:44 pm

The temps here in the Burgh are 57 degrees!!! I saw at least 7 robins feeding in the yard!
I got up this morning straightened the house and decided I'd make a big batch of spaghetti sauce for a birthday dinner for my Mom next week and barbequed ham for dinner tonight. I straightened my shed outside and thought this was a good day to finally take the CHRISTMAS!! light from my shrubs. No, the rest of my decorations have been taken down but everytime I decided to take down the lights it was either 0 degrees or snowing like heck. I just started taking down the lights and the RAINS started!!! Is this a sign that I should leave these lights up till next Christmas??? So the plan is to clean up my back porch since it's covered and I won't get wet. (You know I do melt when I get wet.)lol I'll clean my sliding door and pray for the rain to stop. It will only take about 15 minutes to take the Christmas lights down. (If you don't count the Japanese maple that I decided to wrap in lights - trunk and all the branches!!!!) I won't be doing that again next Christmas!! Oh well, I'm not getting anything done sitting here. Hope everyone is having good, warm weather.

I've been outside on and off(more on than off) since late morning and it's very warm. Time to get out the shorts! I am officially over winter.

Only yesterday my husband said, "Winter just doesn't want to let go!" We've had some warm days but the nights still give the occasional freeze. At the same time, the city is sprouting daffodils like crazy (I've got 4 of them!), trees I can't name are bursting with tiny pink blossoms, and we have a blooming hyacinth, camellias, and yellow honeysuckle. Her Poochness is finding plenty to investigate -- she loves to smell the flowers.

I put on shorts today for the first time this spring to work in the yard. What a beautiful day! 76.8 with a few clouds. Some of the white Dogwoods in the area are beginning to bloom.

its almost summer here, 73 today-80 by the weekend, had a slight seabreeze. We had a small area of clouds come over with the seabreeze, in a few weeks or a month those clouds could be disasterous.

This was the first day in a long, long time that I didn't wear a sweater - inside the house! We keep our thermostat low....

What other signs - well our dog is no longer napping on the couch! She's back to snoozing on the brick hearth.

So Spring must be right around the corner!

Spring is here for sure! I hit the lower 80s in north Houston today and with a touch of humidity and partly sunny skies...it actually felt quite warm.

reached 6C to 7C 43F to 45F here in toronto today, some morning spring rain, snow melting everywhere...and some late day sunshine...

believe it or not, it felt quite spring-like too. Might be hard to believe for some, but after the past 8 weeks or so in virtually a deep freeze, it felt REALLY GOOD!

It was a beautiful day here in Irving, TX. 83*F was our high this afternoon. Of course, that's not gonna last long, because temperatures are gonna plummit to the 60s by next weekend.

It was almost 40° here today - I was outside (without a coat  ) chipping ice away from my downspout so it could drain; my son must have put it down a few days ago and it was frozen solid. Supposed to be in the 40's the next few days - maybe I can finally get the car cleaned out - somehow I never seem to get that done when it is below zero (wonder why?).

We had an usually warm winter here in Lakeland, with very few days where the the temps went into the 30's or below. Speaking of shorts, Brent I have worn shorts every day since it is my standard off work clothing. We hit 80 degrees earlier today, has cooled down to about 77 now. Spring is here , my tabueia is re-blooming after it bloomed too early in Jan, I have a red amaryllis with 4 blooms open on it now and over 14 scapes in the amaryllis bed in the back yard , each scape will have 2 or 3 flowers which are red with a white star.

An incredible 81 here today. 15 degrees above normal. 14 years ago tonight was the Blizzard of 1993. Looks like we'll cool off towards the weekend though, maybe even a little below normal.

Every morning when I open the curtains in my bedroom I am reminded to the fact that spring has already begun. There's this prume-tree in my tree which is already full of pink blossom. Also, roadsides and parks are full of daffodils, tulips and crocuses.

79 here!

Similar to waiting to turn on the furnace in Fall, we wait as long as we can before going to A/C. We'll likely roast tonight though when it's time to turn in!!!!
