Fresno police negotiators are trying to convince a Hayward man to give himself up after he allegedly shot and killed one person and wounded two others Monday night in an apartment complex next to the Fresno State campus.
Police are communicating by phone with 19-year-old Jonquel Brooks after last night's shooting at the University Village Apartments, a complex across from the school's Bulldog Stadium.
Police say Brooks is suspected of shooting and killing a former Fresno State student and wounding two other people during a confrontation last night.
Authorities say the person shot and killed was a former Fresno State student. The other two people do not have life-threatening injuries.
Fresno State officials say classes will be held as scheduled today.
The school has sent out a notice to students, faculty and staff and posted an alert on the school's Web site.
Seems school related even though it happened off campus.
