Notice the date on the story. It's since been revealed that she is not a candidate. Bob Barker thought she was too polarizing a figure to be host. He apparently wants someone with wide appeal.

I heard on the news yesterday that the chances of Rosie hosting "The Price Is Right" are slim to none.

Thank god! I mean I used to like the woman and still do somewhat but she is not the person for this job at all. As a matter of fact I don't know who would be?

I don't mind her either.

But, TPIR, for the first time since 1972, is going to have to fight for ratings and simply getting renewed for another season will be a real concern. So, I agree with Bob. Someone with wide appeal needs to be chosen.

It has been rumored that Barker has said Rosie will be the host "over his dead body". So there you go...

Rosie is like this "Everyone is entitled to HER opinion!!! and nobody elses matters! I do not like Rosie anymore at all!

I quit watching The View because of her and now I can watch happily until they start saying like today that they owe her if they win the Award....only because she caused such chaos when she was there.

I can't see that happening. I would be laughing during the whole show though! It would be priceless though!

Truthfully, Rosie wouldn't be able to inject commentary into The Price is Right and has the energy to be a good host. So on TPIR she'd be nothing like she was on The View. I just don't see it happening, though.

There's also another big problem...

Rosie lives in NY, TPIR tapes in L.A., she would have to move to L.A. to do the show, and I doubt she'd do that. It'd be much easier for Freemantle to hire someone already living in L.A.

Bob Barker has now endorsed Rosie.

Bob Barker endorsed his friend Rosie O'Donnell as a possible successor on "The Price Is Right," although the newly retired host isn't sure CBS wants a woman to take over the game show.

"I believe they're going to have a meeting with Rosie," Barker said backstage Friday night at the Daytime Emmy Awards, where he won his 19th trophy.

"She knows the show," he said. "There's no doubt in my mind she could do the show. Now, whether they want a lady host, I don't know. I've never heard that discussed. As far as I know, they've only auditioned men."

Barker said his friendship with O'Donnell goes back several years, when she had him as a guest on her old daytime talk show.

You have to like how Bob Barker did that. He even made CBS sound anti-women if they don't pick her. :hoola: 8-) :D

There are so many reasons why she should NOT be the host and none have to do with the fact she's a woman. I hate how Bob invoked that. I do know that just about every person who watches TPIR hates the idea of her hosting(going so far as to say "over their dead bodies"). I think maybe what he said is getting overblown though, he didn't say he wanted her to be the host, and he has no say over who will succeed him(and CBS really doesn't either), he only said she MIGHT make a good host, there's a big difference.

The problem with Rosie, besides the other obvious ones, is that she will never be a long-term solution. She lasted exactly eight months at The View, and Freemantle needs to look for someone who will be there for many years, not bailing after a year or two max. I also think Rosie would want to make a lot of changes and totally ruin the show. The reason the show is still popular after 35 years is because changes over the years have been very limited.

I honestly don't think she will get it. Freemantle and CBS know better.
