States considering Laws banning teen Cell Phone use.
Good idea that doesn't go far enough . Nobody should be text messaging or using a Cell phone while driving IMHO.

exactly...the law is ridiculous if this comes to past, it doesnt matter the age, if you are on a cell phone while driving, a teenager behind the wheel is just as bad as a full grown man (or woman) behind the wheel.
It just makes no sense to pass this stupid law if you are going to put an age limit.

£60 only? I think it's much stricter here.

Penalty
A first-timer convicted of phone and drive offence shall be liable to 12 demerit points and a maximum fine of up to $1000/- or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or both. He/She may also be disqualified from driving. The offender's handphone and SIM card will be seized to facilitate investigation. These may be forfeited by the court upon conviction.

You also have to get a Rx for chewing gum.

SIngapore is exceedingly strict for almost everything.

I doubt this will pass in Florida, EVERYBODY talks while diving. it really comes natural after you do it once or twice
I don't think so. It doesn't come natural to me. It doesn't come natural to my 20 year old employee. It doesn't come natural to my mil. Ask my sons exroomate who is a cop and tells us all about the accidents caused by someone yakking on a cellphone. Ya wanna distract yourself more while driving...be my guest but don't do it on my roadway.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard, why don't they just legalize DUI for people 18 and older too?

I'm gonna have to disagree with most of you...really don't see the big deal with talking on your cell phone while driving. I mean...it's no more of a distraction then turning the radio, eating a sandwich or looking at your GPS...are they going to make that against the law too? I'm not saying that those things don't cause accidents...they do, but it mostly comes down to how well of a driver you are.

I think scientific studies have proved that talking on your cell and driving is as dangerous as drunk driving.

Well, that's the crux of the issue, isn't it? In my experience many people are not good drivers anyway. Logically, one shouldn't be eating a sandwhich while maneuvering a potentially deadly hunk of metal like a car or truck. Most people don't even know how to use their turn signals, much less navigate with a cell phone against the side of their craniums. Really, one should be concentrating on driving while in a motor vehicle....not doing things which can and should be done at another place or time. The risks are just too high. The bottom line is....most people can't drive properly. I'd wager that 70% of drivers would fail the written driving exam if they had to take it today.
