I need to set the record straight....on the Hurricane Quiz in the July Newsletter -- Kelly only missed one question.
On the question "When did the National Hurricane Center begin assigning women's names to hurricanes -- I submitted 1950 to ticka as the correct answer....and I was WRONG. In 1950, NHC began assigning names from the U.S. Military phonetic alphabet to hurricanes...Able, Baker, Charlie, etc. They didn't begin assigning female names until 1953...so Kelly's answer of 1953 was indeed correct.
My humble apologies for providing ticka the incorrect answer...it was an honest mistake. My congratulations to Kelly on answering 21 of the 22 quiz questions correctly!
