Defunct Spy Satellite Falling From Orbit

By EILEEN SULLIVAN – 13 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — A large U.S. spy satellite has lost power and propulsion and could hit the Earth in late February or March, government officials said Saturday.

The satellite, which no longer be controlled, could contain hazardous materials, and it is unknown where on the planet it might come down, they said. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the information is classified as secret.

Oh great, now we have to watch our heads outside for the next few months. It's just like that frozen airplane waste that falls on people's roofs.

I'm curious about the hazmat onboard. What could it possibly be?

Most satellites are covered in beryllium.

They don't build them like they used to. The Chinese could drop this bird right down the hole in Pine Gap easy.
Whatever happened to stealth and plausable deniability? This one is radioactive for heavans sake!

Sooner or later luck will run out and a satellite will hit land where people live. Don't they burn up before hitting though? Or do they have speical material so they don't?

It's beryllium, the dust of which is hazardous when it's ingested.

Its still trying to be confirmed that this spy satellite is owned by the New England Patriots and that the loss of power of this satellite is being blamed for their Super Bowl loss.. :D

Talk about media hype. It's going to burn up in the atmosphere for god's sake. Any scrap that does survive (unlikely), has a very remote chance of landing somewhere dangerous.
