Urgent prayer request

#1 Postby azsnowman » Mon Jan 28, 2008 7:26 am

I know I tend to "over do" things as it were but this is truly serious this time. I cannot grasp what is happening. We are being flooded out, I'm safe for the moment unless the dam above me breaks too. Read my thread in the winter forum...we had an estimated 4" of rain fall on a 42" snowpack and dams mountainwide are breaking, causing numerous evacuations, I have some dear friends that stand to loose their house, everything. I probably will not be posting much due to the large areas of evacuations. I would appreciate any and ALL prayers!

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!! WELL...the rain has stopped and it's now nearing BLIZZARD conditions! This is the most screwed up weather I've EVER seen up here!

The evacuation has expanded to others areas of the White Mtn. Apache Rez....the Whiteriver has gone to 20' above flood stage according to scanner traffic, parts of Show Low have been evacuated along Billy Creek...this is bad!

Your looking at another 9" of snow above 6500' with wind gusts up to 55mph later today. Numerous flood warnings in your area. Be careful. Prayers with y'all.

Thanks Brother!

Yeah...things are looking a *little* brighter as of 1345 hours, the sun was out for a few minutes, water levels are dropping, think the darkest hours of this latest gully washer is over but as you said, there's yet ANOTHER system slatted for late this afternoon, evening with ANOTHER 2" of rain forecast over the hardest hit areas, could be ANOTHER sleepless night (yes, I've been up well over 36 hours now without sleep!!)

Sky Nez of the Apache Scout told The Independent that part of the Three Pipes land bridge in Whiteriver has washed away as a result of the weekend precipitation. Some families in Whiteriver and East Fork have been evacuated from their homes due to the flooding and have been relocated to a shelter at the Alchesay High School activity center. The Whiteriver School District has canceled classes for Monday.
The Independent has also received reports of flooding and evacuations in Carrizo. Colette Altaha of the office of the Vice Chairwoman said 20 people were evacuated from the community early Monday morning after an alert was given to the reservation's emergency response team from analysts in Montana monitoring Cooley Lake. The evacuees are staying in the Whiteriver Hotel.
Altaha said they are expecting a second storm in the area to dump another two inches of rain on top of the 2-1/2 inches they received during the weekend. She said authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
"Right now, we're just waiting and watching," she said.
A briefing on the incident is planned for 4 p.m. at the White Mountain Apache Housing Authority in Whiteriver, with a broadcast at 5 p.m. on Apache Radio, KNNB 88.1 FM.
The public is also cautioned to stay away from streams and rivers. For more information, see Tuesday's Independent. Stay posted to wmicentral.com for updates to this developing story.

If I believed at all that prayer was more than an outlet of private emotion, then I would pray for you.

Have luck, good buddy!

You certainly have gone from one extreme to another weatherwise over the last few years. I hope that it does let up enough to allow the water to recede. I also hope that noone loses their homes because of this.
