My God man that is horrible. You want this beast to hit Honduras and kill thousands of people? I'm praying this will go north and miss those poor people. Let it hit another swamp like Dean. It needs to get as far north as possible from Honduras or we'll have a catastrophe.

quit putting words in wxman57's mouth. He said nothing of the sort... He's just saying that 1 landfall would be better than 2. No matter where it hits, it's going to be bad, that's common sense, but it's also only common sense to prefer 1 landfall as opposed to 2. Not only that, but a southern trending of the models means that perhaps 1 landfall instead of 3 if it's able to avoid the BOC alltogether...

Yeah you're right, I never thought of that.

Floyd came ever so close but just missed.

I've been very busy but right now I'm not too worried about it moving towards the CONUS. It is an amazing storm...and I'm glad it's going to stay south of us.

The best case scenario is a Dean track further north with two landfalls. On the NHC track (or God forbid further south) Felix could kill thousands of people.

If it goes annular how does that impact honduras vs non annular? I thinking obviously more intensity in the winds anything else?

Well, it doesn't look like the North track is panning out. I was all over it myself, thinking it would move more North, but I was wrong, so no matter what we feel is best, it looks like the models are trending south...

Don't know if this has been brought up, but the sudden rapid intensification may be attributed to an area of anomalously high heat content Felix is currently trekking over:

http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/phod/dataphod1 ... 7244at.jpg

Felix should be near its potential intensity and in fact is headed toward an area of even higher potential intensity (<880mb!), but the heat content is lower (depth of the warmest surface water is not as large). It'll be interesting to see if the intensity responds to the former with further strengthening or the latter with weakening. Although, eyewall replacement cycles will probably be the largest signal in the intensity evolution during the next couple of days.
