Dr. Lyons said at 8:50 that 99L would head towards Bermuda and then go to the east coast of Florida.

:uarrow: How's that for a tightly-clustered consensus? Haha.

Looks like a trick question on a meteorology exam.

unlikely...the water temps around Long Island and New Jersey are too cool to support a strong hurricane and possibly even a category 1 hurricane. Wind shear also is another big factor since it is tremendously active north of the Carolina coast.

This is the GFS 500 mb pattern at 96 hrs - trapped under a ridge with weak steering currents - hence the wild model plots - u can add the euro as one that takes it to the GA coast.

850 pm MHX (Newport/Morehead City, NC) Long Term Discussion:

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
CURRENTLY EXPECT THE LOW TO THE S TO DRIFT SLOWLY E AND BECOME
NEARLY STATIONARY. THIS WOULD KEEP AREA MAINLY DRY WITH SEASONAL
TEMPS. ONCE AGAIN THE 12Z GFS BRINGS THE SFC LOW BACK TWRD THE CST
NEXT WEEKEND AND WOULD LEAD TO SOME RAIN/WIND. STILL LOTS OF
UNCERTAINTY WITH THIS LOW BUT THERE IS SOME CHC IT COULD
EVENTUALLY HAVE SOME IMPACT OVER THE AREA BUT JUST TOO EARLY TO
TELL.

Actually, I have a little more respect for Dr. Lyons, especially after he made some accurate predictions about Dean that initially were laughed at by some of those in this forum.

There is a reason why he has the title "Dr." in front of his name. Although I may not agree with him all the time, I would trust him more than any amateur storm2k poster.

I do not like seeing this - that reminds me of Jeanne for some reason.

Yeah, I think Dr Lyons is an easy bash target and he is really quite good and undeserving of the bashing he gets here. I remember many of his wrong guidance (like that Jeanne was going to be a Bermuda threat) but he is "Dr." for a reason.

At 9:50, he said towards Bermuda then generally towards the EC, he did not specifically say Fl, he generally pointed towards FL,GA, and SC.
