When the remnants of a tropical cyclone regenerate within a basin, the name is retained. Doesn't matter whether the circulation opens up into a wave or not.

No ... since it has opened up into a wave, any new surface circulation would be a different entity.

That is only if it changes basins. It would be Ingrid if its remnants redevelop.

Actually it would still be Ingrid as long as they can identify the same sfc feature. Opening up into a wave has nothing to do with it. There are numerous examples systems that have lost their closed circulations...opened to a wave...and then closed off again...which retain the same name/designation. It is only when they can not say that the sfc feature is the same do they (the NHC) rename it something else (i.e. with Katrina). Ivan was an example of this, so is Mitch in '98.

Yeah...there was a fight in the NHC over that one.

Also...in 2001 Chantal degenerated to an open wave but closed back off again a day later in the eastern Car...

OK ... I stand corrected. I thought the issue was a continuation of a surface circulation.

Maybe dropped this off models and floaters a bit too soon.

Does have a spin, about (let's see, 1/2 distrance between 17.5 and 20 is what, 18.75N by 61W? - boy do I miss that floater with 1degree lat/lons!!!!!!!!) Convection is some distance to the SE.

:uarrow: Artist, they have the final warning at 9:00z this morning. However, even if they dont issue any more warnings, they internally do model runs that we dont see, such as this afternoons 18:00 UTC run with position at 18.6n-60.8w.

Hey folks -- yes Ingrid certainly has died off here over the past 24 hours

she looks to be trying to make yet another comeback, albeit small today -- nice spin and only conditions will get better tonight and tomorrow (UL conditions)

Luis, I don't see 18z position of former Ingrid on NRL site. Where do I click? Graphic and text are all advisory 20 from 9z this morning? Are you referring to the text on the photos? Yes, I see that. Is it from models?

Ingrid looks to be in a state of regeneration. Convection increasing.

It is still pretty far south of the circulation which you can see around 18N 60W.
