Re: Tropical Storm DEAN: Discussions,Analysis and Imagery
While I know it's not official, based on the current track and the high pressure building in protecting the gulf that the MET just mentioned, this has Mexico written all over it....

Derek, thanks for checking out this thread and helping us with a heads up. I've been talking to people all day, from a good friend who will help me secure the cart (basically anchoring it to the bridge...if the bridge goes, we're all so screwed anyway it won't matter!) to a friend who didn't have a clue what was going on and that while housesitting!!! I told her the range of scenarios and she scooted on back to call the house owners, who must be frantic...when far away from here (or any island) the thing you do NOT want is to be far away when danger is possible. Another woman and I talked about the best canned stuff to have around...and Perez, our propane guy (yes, ONE guy who deals with propane, for the whole population), looks very busy, but still smiling.
This afternoon I was sitting in a bar/restaurant with friends, TWC on, and we just laughed about the coverage of Dean, from the island perspective. One day someone is going to understand that the posterior covers almost the entire Caribbean chain as the weather person points to the states. It gives a whole new meaning to MOVE YOUR...BOTTOM
Being asked for info, I've been saying that I won't place any bets until tomorrow night, but get the big stuff done, propane, loose junk around, boats, etc. I won't do the cart until I know things have changed a lot from what they are at present, but the homefront is almost done except for pulling in outdoor furniture (thanks Perez, for the quick propane fix!).
Thanks, all of you...we do worry (and sometimes are heartbroken) about you after we're done worrying about ourselves!

Is it my imagination or do lots of african based storms in the beginning of the active part of hurricane season track into mexico? Like maybe each year one will open up the season by hitting mexico then after that others head towards the gulf? You know kind of like a:"we're here lets get the season started just wanted to give you a heads up kinda thing?"

Hi MJ
you have to laugh at the coverage because if you didn't laugh, you will cry. Many of the forecasters , including the Weather Channel ones, have no idea what islands are where.
I think we have educated a few people here though about our islands

We all have to keep watch but I am particularly worried about Martinique and Dominica at this point. they seem to possibly be right in the line of fire.
