Between 22.5 and 23 degrees outside, 24 degrees in the core.

What is considered a "tropical" or "subtropical" core?

That's one of those sort of ill-defined things ...

I'd say that since this is warm core and it appears to have detached from the trough, it's more tropical than subtropical (and the trend is towards purely tropical).

I'd expect the "non-tropical" to be dropped from the discussions with that data and the trend.

With flight level winds of maximum 33 knots and only one SFMR wind of 34 knots, I don't think this is Gabrielle quite yet.

Should be called a TD though in my opinion.

Since 99L is warm core, has a closed circulation, I'd say it is a minimal TD.....MGC

Yeah, maybe so. Our earlier posts were before that reading came in.

Even though flight level is lower, they might well credit that SFMR reading since the neighboring ones were almost as high.

They are ascending - but it might be that they are elevating due to higher winds. It is a long way back to Biloxi though...

If they're eventually returning to the soon to be named Gabrielle, couldn't they land closer say Pensacola AFB and wait there?..why do they have to go all the way back to Biloxi?

Yes it does, no VDM=that the LLC is not totally closed. That means no upgrade.
