On top of that, the eye maybe finally making its appearance now. It looks barely discernable on the RGB loop, but is a little more noticible on IR loops.

yeah i see it on the IR.. but its hard to say yet.. radar will help soon

Very similar to the previous runs. It's time for all of you east coasters to get some rest. Tomorrow will be another busy day.

Re: Hurricane DEAN:(Page 106) Discussions, Analysis and Imagery

At first I thought the SW side of the storm was looking somewhat ragged but as I get different views it might have just been my imagination. This storm DOES have very good outflow in all directions, esp. to the north. When it crosses the islands and continues to head west, this thing should blow up into a monster.

I'm kinda torn where I want this storm to go. On one hand I'm hoping through the channel so that Yucatan can avoid alot of destruction and possible deaths, but on the other hand I don't want it to go through the channel because then that means no weakening and we don't know what kind of monster might emerge in the gulf, so no good answer here. I guess all we have to hope for is that somehow it will be weaker than currently forecasted.

May sense a weakness in the ridge, if a more intense High pushes it faster.

Am I wrong..or does the 150hrs run show the high pushed far NE? And Dean just sitting there in the gulf?

156 hrs... http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod ... n_156l.gif

Seems to have a slight bit more northward momentum. This run might end up closer to Browsville.

500mb... http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod ... 0_156l.gif

**This is also north of the 18z run at this point**

Yeah, Rita was supposed to hit Brownsville, wasn't it?

This could be the start of a trend...
