If this gains any convection near the center, then they might name it a TD or TS before landfall..but either way it likely will not be too big of an event.

The funny thing is most if not all of the convection is way to the east of the "center" and not moving much but building size. It almost looks like it's not even part of 90L.

Well, 92L may have more long term potential, but it isn't doing much today either...

5:30 PM TWO:

SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY REMAINS MINIMAL IN ASSOCIATION WITH
A NON-TROPICAL LOW PRESSURE AREA OVER THE NORTH-CENTRAL GULF OF
MEXICO. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF DEVELOPMENT...AND THE POTENTIAL FOR
TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL DEPRESSION FORMATION IS DIMINISHING.
HOWEVER...INTERESTS IN THE NORTHWESTERN GULF OF MEXICO SHOULD
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM. THE LOW IS
EXPECTED TO MOVE GENERALLY WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT ABOUT 10 MPH OVER
THE NEXT DAY OR SO.

I don't understand why this isn't classidfied as a STD. The closed circulation has persisted for over 24 hours. The satellite presentation is as good or better than STS Nicole:

yeah, I agree jschiltz. I mean this system is not that impressive, but it does have a well-defined LLC and has produced winds of 30-40mph in the Gulf. I think calling this a STD would be a good idea.

To be fair HURAKAN, that picture you provided is when Nicole had winds of 50mph. In this case, the weaker Nicole (at TD strength) is probably a better comparison to the current situation. Jschlitz said this should be a STD...not a STS...and based on that weaker Nicole picture, he may be right.

The NHC won't upgrade a naked swirl. Period.

We would have to relax the rules to also admit naked swirls as subtropical or tropical cyclones.

Okay now where is 90L? If you didn't know any better
using this satellite loop only you would think it was off mouth of the MS. per
the convection.

It looks to have slowed some. Might start to see more convection firing around the LLC.

>>People are actually still watching this?

I'm looking at a weaker band coming through down here in Central Lafourche and a rainbow to the ENE.

>>It is the naked swirl South of Vermillion Bay-S Central LA.

I think it's both swirls - that one and the one just off the mouth that is building some bands and shower activity in SELA and SoMS. I remember putting something out last week or this weekend in regards to whether or not, given the pattern, we wouldn't see a swirling of swirls again as we did with TD #10. wxman57 confirmed that on Tuesday when he showed it. Since then, multiple swirls have been intermittantly apparent IMHO.

Category 5 here we come!

(OK, maybe not)

A itty-bitty shower with tops as cold as maybe -45ºC has popped just a few miles Northwest of the center of the swirl!

A little too late, but I think the center kicks off convection tonight and hold until landfall early tommorow.
