Re: Major Hurricane DEAN: (11PM page 192) Discussions, Analysis
I think someone is catching up from the "Cross shaped eye" images previously posted...Not sure what happened after that, as I am, myself, in the 12 hour catch up mode...work interferes with everything

Not sure what else is going on....but back to Dean.
Incredible satellite presentaton aside...I cannot help but be impressed with the intensity of the outer bands well outside the CDO...
Wow...

I actually think that it's amazing that someone got offended by this.

Oh. Thanks. There were five ? interlocking spirals inside one of those Awesome Cat 5 eyes in 2005, like celtic rings. It's physics.
I thought it was a comment on the track viz I posted. Getting late.

I feel really bad for Haiti right now....If this thing gets to close loss of life will be very high.

It is just starting to enter the higher TCHP. Once it gets to 68 west there is a spot of energy like the loop current. In that is not talking about what it has waiting for it on the other side of Jamica.

Most unfortunate that the loss of life will be high if Dean does encounter the south coast of Haiti and the Dominican Republic along with Jamaica.

Re: Hurricane DEAN: Global Models
What was interesting about Alicia was it formed from nontropical origans. I think that makes it A very unusual Major hurricane. IMO

Buoy 42059 looks like it's in position to experience the southern eye wall in a couple hours. Experiencing 39 knot winds right now. Pressure dropping rapidly--down to 999 mb now. Waves 27 feet! On top of 24 feet high swells!

Also...if it hits Matagorda..with it being such a powerful storm, what would the effects be in Port Arthur?
HGX is possibly in the path...although right now I think it is a northern boundary for the track. As far as Pt Arthur...if it hit Matagorda...expect gusts to 60 mph or so...sustained at TS force perhaps.

Here we go again. Research from the LSU ESL has indicated that dry air cores (ULLs or ULHs) can affect steering currents regarding tropical cyclones. I have predicted a large number of systems over the years with good accuracy. I was wrong with Katrina and Rita because they created their own environments. Further research is being done by Dr. Hsu at LSU regarding this matter. Science and reason rule, not supernatural nonsense. Thank you
