while no doubt this storm looks impressive and the intensification has been historic
isn't their a colder cloud top color ( a darker red/ or blackish color) above the solid red which now outlines the storm
has their been a storm (wilma, katrina) that had a solid darker red surrounding the eye? and i know ; give felix time

135 knots/936 millibars is my thinking...Then the second pass could find the cat5 in a hour or so.

Wow, thanks for the image, I was wondering what dean looked like when he was cat 5, and compaired to felix, which is near cat 5 right now per latest recon finding,
This is going to be a beast big time, hopefully folks in Belize and the southern Yucatan espically are getting prepared for this.

It goes to show that "maybe in the western Caribbean," and "it will be too close to South America to get strong" don't necessarily mean anything sometimes. Hurricanes are very unpredictable.

No matter what else happens during the rest of the season, 2007 will partly remembered for Caribbean runners reaching IH and slamming the Yucatan. Tough year for those people so far.

And it isn't even half over.

I saw that, amazing. I would not be surprised if this is 135 knots right now, close to a CAT5. Extremely impressive.

Felix strengthened a lot faster than Dean. It was a TD on Friday and now a Category 4 hurricane, likely a 5 soon. It's almost in the same area as Dean. Felix could be one of the most intensifying hurricane.
