Luis,
Hola!

Hi! Here in Cozumel we have been preparing ourselves since Thursday afternoon. After three straight days of "Wilma" those who haven't lived in the Island for long are a bit afraid; however, since "Gilbert" we learned pretty well and in the Stat of Quintana Roo our "hurricane" awareness is quite broad and very responsible. Authorities have carried out a great job; the Civil Protection Agency has been even sending warnings through mobile phones to as many people as possible. When we have seen ourselves affected by hurricanes, we all (give or take 72 thousand) try to assist the government as much as possible. Here in Cozumel, even though since Thursday afternoon the three gas stations in the Island were full, we have been advised there is more than enough fuel and yesterday the authorities even mentioned that there are enough supplies in the Island for 10 days. The Ferry boats that link us to the mainland will leave tomorrow (the ones with the cargo) and passenger ferries will probably keep working until Sunday or early Monday morning.

Hey, no argument from me on this Strat ... all I was suggesting was that IF the storm continued on its current track, it appeared it would go over the island of Jamaica and not south of it.

I am not a "PIMBY" ...

Sorry, I generally do 72-hour forecasts since errors tend to be very large at 4 and 5 days out.

Well its a tiny bit early to say he won't go north of Jamaica since he hasn't past the island yet. Will be interesting to see what the morning brings.

It feels good to give back. After Katrina, offers of help poured in from all over the world, it seems.

LOL...

I was a bit worried yesterday, but things seem to be falling in place. Hopefully Dean does the Jamaica two-step and passes far enough south to limit his effects.

It's needs to start gaining some lat in hurry before I see that possibility. Will be fun to watch, especially for those that remember Ivan.

NHC forecast points just went slightly south of Jamaica on NHC Satellite loops.

First time I've seen a forecast point predict a category 5 off yucatan.
